Had a few rumbles around 8.20 and lost power. Seems to be a trail of faults back from here through Collooney and in to Sligo town.

Lightning has done a serious amount of damage to the ESB network across Sligo and Mayo. The ESB map is hopping on the app. To be fair that was loud tonight.

Got a good dose of it out in the sticks near Tuam. Think it went right over us. A few forks in it too. Tripped the RCB.

Might be of interest to some on here, sent to me by a friend.
Hello all, It's a new year, and the IMS zoominars are starting up again! Next Thursday, 28th January, at our usual time of 19:00, we are delighted to have a speaker from Met Éireann, Paul Downes, tell his tales of chasing storms: "A stormchasers guide to mother nature’s greatest laboratory: The what, how and why guide to stormchasing." In 2003 Paul Downes, a native of Mullingar, followed his dream to chase supercell thunderstorms in the hopes of spotting one of mother nature’s most awe-inspiring weather phenomena, the tornado. Little did he know that this, once in a lifetime trip, would change his life. Hundreds of tornadoes later with a degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma Paul now works as an operational meteorologist with Met Eireann, however his passion for stormchasing has never waned If you can, please register (for free!) on the Eventbrite page for this talk: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/a-stormc...s-137458264369 The Zoom link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8625227269...pXaVdJWXdKZz09 I attach a promotional image, do feel free to pass on to anyone who you think may be interested...... |
