Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi there! Anyone else interested trying to prove yourself against the best soccer managers that Boards.ie have to offer? We're currently approaching the end of our seventh season and are heading into the close (silly) season where many managers are looking to freshen up their teams.

    Athletic Bilbao are currently by far the best team to take over at the moment due to them being nurtured brilliantly by their previous manager who has since departed to take the reigns at Chelsea. After that, well, you can see for yourselves below in the table. I've marked the teams which I've deemed to be attractive options with a smiley face (although I may be slightly biased in terms of my former club, Estudiantes :D)

    It's also worth bearing in mind that, while there is a rule in game prohibiting manager from buying from unmanaged clubs, it's looking ever so increasingly likely that this rule will be changed at the end of next season (this will allow for smaller managed clubs to build up a war chest unlike if we changed it this season).

    Hello Again!

    As the curtain comes down on our eighth season of the Soccer Manager Official Boards.ie, there are still plenty of decent teams to take over should anyone want to chance their arm at football management. Now more than ever is a great time to join as the league rules are due to be changed at turn one of next season (approx. 8th June) which will allow current managers to buy players from unmanaged clubs (some of which have quite a few decent players indeed).

    It's guaranteed to be great fun as teams battle it out to try and snag the best remaining players currently plying their trade at these unmanaged clubs.

    Hello,

    Two new excellent teams have become available if anyone wants to join.

    FC Porto have the likes of Riyad Mahrez, and someone unknown dude who goes be the name of Lionel Messi. :pac: There's several other top players there too.

    AS Roma are the second club seeking a manager. Excellent young team there including the likes of Kepa, Depay, Draxler, TAA, Lenglet, and so much more.


    Sunderland and Fiorentina also have relatively decent squads, but the above two are the ones to go for.
