wow a run out that should never have been. Crazy stuff.

Gutgen with a nice knock of 49 before Young gets him

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Ireland 11/3 chasing 196.

Stirling still in is about the only hope

Get the opposition in trouble early on, let the middle order/lower order fight back, then bat like chumps.

The consistency of this Irish team is spectacular.

Today shows up how poor the interpros are. McCarthy has been the best bowler in the interpros, he didn't trouble the Dutch today. Dockrell has been the best batsman, no impression today. Bar Stirling there's no international level players, club cricketers and nothing more!

Stirling 50 up, still a way to go, but is he going to be able to save the day

Out. 60 off 75 and into the lower end, only 4 wickets left. Big ask from here

28 needed from 42. McBrine been fortunate with a few edges, Simi going well, hopefully they can take it home from here

Such a bad way to lose the game.

Unfair to blame Little to much, but did he think he was De Villiers on the last ball?:pac:

There were so many problems with that run chase it's hard to know where to begin. Really awful stuff

Ah no, I didn't mean to blame him. Just the way the whole chase went, and then to lose by just 2.

Oh yeah sorry phrased the post wrong was never implying you were blaming Little. It was a dumb shot from him, but it was a very sloppy performance from Ireland. He is still young enough, but I do fear for Ireland when Sterling begins to decline. :(

The Dutch win the toss and batting first again, a solid if unspectacular start but just lost 3 wickets all to Josh little and on 58/3 after 18 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

85/5 now after 28 overs with both batsmen at the crease on zero.

Based on past performances... keeping Netherlands to under 200 from here would be an achievement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 583 ✭✭✭Is1ldur

Got to keep them below 170.

All out for 157 good bowling performance that especially from Little and Young. We need lads to step up and help Stirling in the batting a few to get 20s 30s etc and we should get to our target.

So how are Ireland going to f@ck up this run chase then?

Edit: Porterfield needs to be dropped from a very tall height at this stage. Useless.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Stirling out for 52, another 50 on the board for him. 91/2 and need 67 to win should get there from here but if Balbirnie goes soon then it could be panic stations

Finally a routine win for Ireland today. Won by 8 wickets with the low chase target giving Balbirnie in particular, plenty of time to get in.

The bowlers have been excellent and hopefully they can do the same again on Monday. Can see Kevin O'Brien probably come in for Porterfield at the top of the order.

Feels like they made hard work of the chase, but you can't argue with an 8 wicket win.
Let's hope for a bit better on Monday.

KOB has retired from international 50 over cricket

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,157 ✭✭✭VillaMad

The finest ODI innings ever by an Irish batsman, probably never to be bettered.

Hopefully we will still see him kit out in the other forms still.

What's the story with these ODIs against South Africa? Are there tickets on sale, or are fans allowed attend or what, does anyone know?

Read yesterday that tickets on sale through clubs etc initially and any not taken will go on general sale tomorrow

Must say that Tuesday's performance was superb. Excellent batting in particular the century by Balberne and in the last 10 overs. Bowling was a little shaky during the long partnership but was great aside from that spell. Fielding was superb, kept the pressure on all the time. All in all a great performance and result.

Yes, was there Tuesday as well so hoping for 2 in a row 😁

What a win against SA, pity boards was down. Beat them in all areas of the pitch. A rare chance today to secure a series win against one of the big boys.

15 unexpected super League points so far against SA. Also 10 unexpected against England. Makes the series loss to Netherlands all the more annoying. Even a 2-1 win there if we had turned the Afghanistan series into a 2-1 rather than a whitewash we'd be in a great place.

There is also a potential of relegation from the superleague if we finished last in the table so important to avoid that scenario

Wickets will require a lot of hard work. Great toss to win for SA.
