But...the big question still remains,..can he keep his bottle when the pressure is really on at the business end of the tournament

Indeed, but previously he would have probably lost those 2 games.

JdS was on a 110 average after about 10 legs and Smith battled away. If he keeps playing like that, he’ll win it

In fairness to Smithy he consistently gets to the last 8 (Grand Slam and now this). And whilst he usually finds someone to beat him at the business end, quarters-finals is enough in most rational peoples minds to justify his ranking as a T8/T10 player.
It'd be great to see him going the extra step though.

Interesting game between Rydz and Peter Wright so far, certainly no walkover for Wright. Rydz could do with a proper head shave, that combover does him no favours.

Great fight back from 7-2 down.

Played good. The ole Amazon delivery job must be suiting him

Not as good as snakebite though, that was some performance. Has to go deep again in the world's the way he's playing

Fair play to Merv but I fear it’ll lead to a completely one sided final!

Wright of this afternoons standard v Price/MvG would have been a belter

Also probably still holds a grudge from that final in ireland years ago when mvg did all that to get the crowd behind him and they constantly jeered and booed king for no reason

In fairness they boo-ed King because he'd spent the previous decade pretty much being a knob-jockey, and embracing his own 'heel' reputation. It worked against him when the PDC abandoned the whole 'best of order please ladies and gentleman' thing around that time.

MVG played well all weekend. Best in a long time.
Looks like he will take some stopping in the Worlds if he can carry on those 105 averages.

dunno about that,he is still way off what he was 3-4 yrs ago.
if tonights final lets say was 3-4 yrs ago then he would have blown merve away in 30 odd mins.

King played excellent in the final.

99.78 average and 62% on doubles.
Nobody would have blown him away with those numbers.
