    Why so?

I’d sometimes give a history check with cars I’m selling but if someone is trying to persuade you not to do your own check it might suggest that the check they provide is forged or missing details. Unlikely but possible. Good example would be being provided with an Irish only history check for a car that was wrote off in the UK as the UK history won’t be on the report.

My 2017 Polo sold yesterday for €13.9k. I did have a few other offers that were slightly higher but this buyer was the first in line for a viewing and even came in from out of out town to view so I gave his offer priority. He was happy, I was happy and the vehicle looks to be in great hands going forward so all-in it was a fine deal. I hope you guys are successful in selling your vehicles and please do reach out to me on adverts.ie if you want one of my 2 remaining Vehicle History vouchers. Good luck!

My turn lads, the Corsa is up for sale. Delighted to have it but with no sight of an office return any time soon, it just makes sense to sell.

Just need to take some fresh interior pictures.

Long shot here but does anyone in Dublin or along the M7 somewhere have plain old alloys in good condition to suit a 1997 W202 Merc that I could buy?

At this stage if it's not booked in for an NCT, it's probably going to be November or Decmber before you can get a date, so if you plan to sell it soon, the new buyer will be offering you based on a car with little or no NCT

Just booked Fonthill for 21/8 and reasonable number of centres have late Aug/early Sep availability if there was likely to be a price implication.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,621 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

Sorry. I was basing it off the availability in the sellers NCT centres located in Waterford or Kilkenny

Good availability in Dublin so, as I bought a car a few weeks ago and the NCT had been booked before I bought it, around the beginning of July, and the earliest was end of September for Mullingar. I contacted them and cancelled to be put on waiting list and got offered one 2 weeks earlier, in for 10th or 11th September and thought I was doing well!

Thanks lads, price wise am I in the right ballpark

My nct is due Nov and I'd like to get it done early because I want to sell soon. I know you can get it done 2 months early so does that mean I couldn't take a date in late August? I was offered one. Would it have to be sept or after to bring the NCT up to Nov 21? Thanks

If it's within 90 days of due date you get expiry 1 year or 2 years from due date depending if the car is less or more than 10 years old. If you do it more than 90 days from due date you get 1 or 2 years from the test date.

Just be careful that you are going on actual due date, type your reg in on NCT.ie, if the printed date on your NCT is Nov it should have been extended by 4 months because of Covid.

NCT due dates have been pushed out by 4 months due to Covid-19 so if it was originally due in November, it is now not due until March 2021. Just saying if you cannot get a date.

We looked for something like this for ages, then it came up, then a dog arrived and it needs valve stem oil seals (the M Sport, not the dog). Timing is a bitch.

But as I mentioned, some extra bits for a new owner, second hand diff (Google told me I should get one), Heko wind deflectors, and a new jack/wheelbrace. I realise I'll lose a lot on this vs what I paid, but I'm thinking the fact it's Irish, mad service history mostly from Joe Duffy, mental spec and a long NCT should limit the damage.

    Here she is.

That's a lot of car for the money Cian! Best of luck with the sale, I'm sure it won't hang around long.

I'll soon be getting rid of a 02 Corolla that's flown through two NCTs and only has about 80k miles on the clock. Cosmetically it's fairly poor, plenty of marks and a heavily scratched back bumper due to some strange parking habits of a previous owner. Don't really want to deal with the whole DoneDeal thing and once I get a replacement I'll need it gone fairly quick. If anyone here is interested in throwing me a few quid for it let me know. Dublin based.

Put some money into this to make it more appealing. It'll make a good daily for someone.

New valve stem oil seals and gaskets costing €1,250 done yesterday.

    Here!

I assume you don't have to get a new cert or anything like that, and the Gardai will be aware, etc...?

Nope. No need for a new cert and the Garda system will also have it
You can go to ncts.ie and enter your reg and you'll see the date is now 4 months later than your original date

The Corolla is belonging to me. I picked it up recently from a neighbour needing a little work. It wasn't starting and had a lot of tidying up needed mechanically and cosmetically. Ive spent a bit of time on it and it's starting and driving really well now and it's had a really good clean. The bumpers both have some deep scuffs but aside from that the body is good and the interior is very good, there's a lot of driving left it it now IMO. Happy to discuss price and will do a very good deal if you mention you're a boardsie!

The Freelander is belonging to a good friend of mine. He's owned it a long time and taken really great care of the car. I couldn't fault it, there is thousands of euros of receipts with it. He has bought a new car but has justed asked me would i look after selling this for him and how could i resist :pac:
