Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Stopping TV Licence fee

    Hi all,

    A quick question, not sure how I go about this so any advise is welcomed:

    We rent and we paid the TV license a month ago. Now the Girlfriend is moving back to her country for a while while I head back to my parents house.

    Is there a way to pause the TV license until a later date? We will be moving back in together later a few months from now so pausing the TV license would be very beneficial.

    You can however transfer it to another property.

    My guess is that OP's girlfriend won't need it, and his parents probably already have one. Perhaps some deal might be made with the new occupiers of the property.

    Op here,

    P. Breathnach is spot on.

    I think if the girlfriend says she's moving in with her friends form work (that she's leaving)(who needs one) they would transfer like Victor suggested.

    Such a shame they don't do refunds or a credit.

    Why not ask around all your friends and family and see if one of them needs to renew their licence in the next month or so and maybe you could "sell" the balance of your one.

    Maybe you could agree a figure with them rather than leaving it in the house you're leaving.
