That's great. Some of the young people on https://www.the-specials.com/ go to college specifically catered towards this. It's a great series, I wish something like that was available as a choice for everyone with DS or William's.

Is that site run by people with DS themselves? I did see something a while ago around cooking skills, can't find it just now. Seems to be plenty out there anyway.

It seems like they had a lot of creative input, yeah it felt like that, there weren't any episodes about the doc itself though and how they felt about it and what they wanted for it, that would have been cool

How Psychiatry Turned To Drugs To Treat Mental Illness

Some background on certain disorders, a little on the DSM and where things are at at the moment. Basically, not many developments re bio-markers for a number of decades.

Not sure why Youtube pointed me towards an autism vlog, but that's unimportant. Here's a family going through an airport/flights with their non-verbal daughter. They've a lot of videos. She seems really sweet.

This American Life episode, Ten Sessions

https://www.thisamericanlife.org/682/ten-sessions

The storyteller recorded her therapy sessions working through having been sexually assaulted when she was 13. The therapy was cognitive processing therapy - CPT, I had never heard of it.

I see there's a bit of stick going the therapist's way over on Reddit re reading a script. Think it's a little hard to tell on audio, tbh. Worth a listen if you get a chance.

Ha ha ha wow. "There almost wasn't no correlation." The scientific method is a beautiful thing, I think it should be given more reverence. It's flown through by most teachers, once you understand what a control is they figure the learning criteria were met. I won't say where I studied first time round, but as undergraduates we lost marks if our study didn't prove the hypothesis. We lost marks because the world is the way it is? They expected us to cheat and say it wasn't? It feels so wrong.

Quite enjoyed reading this, actually. Good insight on both aspects.

Article - https://thepsychologist.bps.org.uk/are-you-okay

Quote:
At times, the teetering balance between overprotection and encouragement tilted too far on the side of caution, and it was Jane herself who set it right again. One afternoon, as she lay on the couch under a blanket, we peeked in on her and assumed she was sleeping. As we spoke quietly in the kitchen, John suggested that we shouldn’t make her go out for a walk with us, although she had agreed to it earlier. It was one of many moments when neither of us knew what to do. A while later, when I checked again to see if she was awake, she opened her eyes and said, ‘I heard you and dad talking about the walk. I need to be pushed. Don’t give up on me’.
