Alexa at work fires Capt'n. Messages reason with warm fuzzy talk about wishing Capt'n a bright future. Front entrance security Bot will help him clear out is desk, and walk him to the door.

93% of People Would Trust Orders from a Robot at Work

Don't worry they didn't ask real people , just Golgafrincham Ark B candidates
For this survey, 1,320 HR Leaders and employees were asked about their views regarding AI implementation and usage in the workplace.

This research report only discussed percentages, and percentages are descriptive and not inferential. Further, they did not provide specific details on how their sample was derived, only generalities, which leaves us guessing if the sample data was representative of a clearly identified population, or populations (e.g. HR personnel, employees, etc.), and could be generalised to them accordingly; e.g., was it a convenience non-probability sample, or what? I would also like to know both the significance levels and confidence intervals. And I wonder to what extent the funding sources of this research may have been self-interested in the results, and what precautions were taken to reduce the chance of experimenter effects, self-fulfilling prophecy, etc.?

I could go on and on with such questions, but fortunately I have not had my coffee yet this Pacific Saturday afternoon; and besides, I am doubtful that most readers want to engage in a long, windy discussion on research methods. :pac:

Watched an apocalyptic movie last night on the web where a group of powerful American rich guys got together and turned loose thousands of killer robots on the world to reduce the population substantially. Cannot remember the name of the film, but it had a Thomas Malthus plot and solution to population control with a high tech spin.

Makes for fun sci fi fiction today. Who knows to what extent fiction may be somewhat predictive in regards to killer robots?

Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!

Technically speaking microbes are Von Neumann Machines.

And cyanobacteria almost wiped out the planet by spewing out toxic corrosive gas.
