Hi, is anybody else going through clearance and not heard back since sending documents? I sent them on last week and I’m nervous that they didn’t send because I had trouble with the sizing. Just wondering what is the standard amount of time for them to confirm receipt?

What does clearance involve in terms of documents which we are required to provide?
Also, do you need to go through clearance if you are an existing Civil Servant?

Does anyone know how the OOM works? Is it for each batch, so you would have to wait til batch 1 and then 1.2 are panel are exhausted before 1.3? Or does the number correspond to the overall generalist stream? Thanks :)

The OOM is for your specific batch so if you're say 10 on batch 1.3 that's only for your batch. You would have to wait until batch 1 and 1.2 are exhausted

Thanks v much for the info.

Was it a big intake on the day? Were you still assigned a desk even though it's WFH?

    Sorry for not answering sooner.
    What exactly do you mean?

Supposedly, I was assigned a desk, but have never seen it or had access to it. But my line manager told me where our desks are located.

Declaration with respect to Health & Character
    Garda Vetting Application Form
    Proof of Identity
    Proof of Address
    Proof of Academic Qualifications
Declaration that Scanned Documents are True Copies
Police Disclosures from any countries lived in for more than 6 months
Character References for current and previous employers

Can’t speak to how much of that applies to serving civil servants!

Can only speak for myself, but had confirmation the documents were received and added to my file two working days after sending them. That being said, it does seem to vary considerably depending on your allocated administrators workload, how fast they can move between stages of clearance - that stage was quick for me but then it took 8 or 9 days for the reference request to go out after my vetting disclosure had been viewed.

I had the same worry but no was fine.
You can ask them for the start date and location too I am sure
As they have to understand the logistics
    Best of luck :)

Thank you, helps put my mind at ease. I'm happy that my current employer would provide a decent reference, I was just a bit worried I'd be left with mounting bills and a 3-4 month gap of unemployment waiting on a start date.

Thank you. I'm still a little confused on the process. This document indicates that you need to provide full character references for the past three years of employment (this covers the length of time I have been in my current job) - http://www.publicjobs.ie/restapi/documents/Citizenship_Health_Character_Garda_Vetting_and_Reference_Check_requirements.pdf

I can't ask for a character reference without this being considered that I am handing in my notice, am I in a catch-22?

    Cheers!

No, just wait until the clearance process begins for you. They will ask you if it's ok to contact your current employer.

    Hi everyone,
First time poster here. I have recently placed on the OOM (early 20s) for batch 1.3, I have emailed PAS to ask whereabouts they were in the clearing process of batch 2 and will let you know if I get reply!

Thanks! By 'intake' I was wondering if a large group went through induction with you.

How are you enjoying it so far?

There were 12 people starting in the same day. They divided us in smaller groups for our visit to the office (to ensure Covid compliance). Not everyone starting was an AO.

It’s quite nice. The role is definitely varied and your specific responsibilities will depend on the unit and department you are in. That said everyone is nice and friendly.

    Hello :)

Does anyone know if anyone higher than number 10 (11 and upward) has been called for clearance on the HR Panel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 238 ✭✭exitstageleft

Quick question: does anyone know what the analogous grade to AO is in a local authority?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 Tech2188

Hey! Was this for DSP in Infrastructure for AO? refs checked just waiting to be assigned myself.

Hi just wondering have any of you on batch 1.3 general panel already been placed on 1.2 business and finance? Movements in general panels will potentially impact placings on the specialist streams.

    Awh congratulations!!

Got an email from pas this afternoon... They've reached oom 15 for batch 1.3 ☺️

This is my first time doing a campaign like this so my apologies if this is a silly question but if one is contacted for clearance...does that mean that you are guaranteed to get a placement? Or is it still possible that the panel will lapse before one gets placed? Thanks for the replies :)

I think once you're reached for clearance there is a position there for you! I could be wrong but I think that's how it works ☺️
