I am getting impatient too. I think Deloitte have handled this recruitment very poorly and their communication has been terrible. The PSNI have been much better at keeping all the FT group updated. All other forces have managed to continue assessments, medicals, training throughout lockdown. I really do not understand how deloitte have not managed to adapt to lockdown restrictions in order to complete the remaining assessments. I think it is pretty bad that the report in to this recruitment has already been released. Especially since it states where the remaining assessments will be held.

There's people who are on the 2018 campaign who are only starting this month... 2 years and 6 months from applying.

I was lucky to be FT'd 2018 campaign and started exactly a year after a applying.

A mate of mine was 2017 campaign and only started a month before me...

This process has always been long, and yes covid has delayed it further but in the grand scheme of things they haven't done too badly.

Average time from applying to starting is about 18months.

Some FTers this campaign are starting inside that time frame, not too bad considering restrictions

I get that, but i imagine they had a rough idea of how long it would take early on when merit list was released. I am currently serving in different force in england and there are lots of changes on the horizon. Just need to know where i am on the list to see if i need a plan B.

Merit list hasn't been released to PSNI yet though...

Can't have been considering some ACs are still yet to happen.

Makes no odds then for you as you'll carry your pay, pension and most likely not have a probation to serve so can apply for specialism and different roles straight away.

    Always an upside

Annoyingly, i had to withdraw from the 2018 campaign. I didnt have a C in GCSE Maths and they didnt accept the maths modules in my degree as equivalent. I cant think of a time when i have needed maths to do the job. Luckily it was removed for the 2020 campaign.

They accepted essential skills maths which is 1 night a week at tech for 6 weeks...

Anyone else starting to become very impatient?

Yes its frustrating as you wait for stages but it will help build your resilience!

Guys a bit off topic but just wanted to get other potential recruits opinions- I just saw on BBC NI that a part-time constable was targeted with bombs outside of Dungiven in the past few days...how does this sort of news make you feel? Sad? Angry? Nervous? More eager to join and stop this sort of stuff? I guess it makes me feel a mixed bag of emotions.

I think it probably makes people more eager to join and not let them win..the girl worked 12 hrs a month so the bombers probably thought she was an easier target.

Does anyone know if you gain a degree after probation like you do in English forces ?

    Nope.

You can use the SOTP to top up and gainna criminology degree though but that's at your expense.

Recently passed my PCA - just wondering how long do we think the medical will be? I’m in FT3, is everyone from FT2 still awaiting their date?

Congrat’s on the pass..it used to take a week after PCA for medical date, but FT2 waited almost 3 weeks. I’d say everyone has their date through now! Mine is a lot sooner than expected. Have you passed online learning and vetting? Good to also see things moving for FT3 :)

I passed my PCA just before Easter and still haven’t got my medical date yet! Anyone else still waiting from FT2??

Thank you! I found it a lot tougher than it looked on YouTube haha. Online learning passed this week and vetting pending. 3 weeks for a date doesn’t seem too bad on the grand scheme of things. Contacted my GP today for help with filling the questionnaire in and left it down for them to sign. Few things on there I’ll need supporting letters for so hopefully it doesn’t hold me back!

Has anybody experienced passing the medical but not recieving the Ill health element of pension?

If so, what does this actually mean and what medical condition example would they do this for?

    Thanks

The 2020 campaign is different to those previously, you will have to complete the degree course in order to complete your probation (PSNI funded).

I'm in the same boat, completed PCA just before Easter and still waiting a medical date, like you I have checked all folders and nothing has come through 🀷ðŸ»*♀️
I emailed them on Saturday morning there as I was starting to worry I've missed it.

If you call them please let me know how you get on and if I get an email back on Monday I will let you know.

Does seem like most people from ft2 have their date already thought 🙈 so 🀞 a date is on the way.

FT2 here as well, medical coming up soon enough. Did you hear any word yet from emailing? Maybe they are sorting out the list alphabetically or something so wouldn’t worry

Are the appointable candidates in FT1 who haven’t yet got the call hopeful that we’ll get it within the next couple of weeks for a June start?

Yes I really hope so! My current employers are messing up my pay and I really want out. The sooner I get the call the better.
