    At one point Tesco click and collect was so busy we were booking at midnight so we could get a slot as soon as it was released. (High risk household so it was necessary!) It’s a lot better now but nowhere close to pre-pandemic when we could book a slot the night before.

    You might be stuck until things open up again... Ring Sheridans, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

    Some other options:

    * Is Home Store and More open? Maybe you can find suitable there.

    * Try two layers of handkerchiefs or a high thread count pillowcase. If you're looking for something with a very low threadcount, try a decent chemist and ask for the largest woven gauzes they have.

    *if you're really, really, really stuck, a coffee filter (or 10!) might do the trick.

    I can't remember what's the name of the haberdashery near the school almost opposite Sheridan's/St Nicholas Church kind-of-area, but if they're open they may have something.

    In the past I remember using the slings from the A&E kits (you can get them loose in chemists, too), the only downside is that they are triangular so they can hold a very small amount, compared to square ones. But if you're up to sewing...

    Muslin nappies/burp cloths work too. Baby stuff is essential so you should be able to get them.

    I was just about to say this. You can often get a pack of muslin cloths in Aldi, and always during their baby events.

    Any fabric shop will sell muslin/cheesecloth, and lots of them are online nowadays.
    I've used a linen shopping bag to strain jelly, it works very well. As Gloom said, an old cotton shirt works too. You'd need to scald it first.

    Right, help needed.
    I bought a pack of frozen crab claws in the shell in Lidl for no specific reason except that I was so excited to see them.
    I literally haven't a clue what to do with them, and I've searched online but nothing is jumping at me.
    Any ideas??

    I'm assuming that the shell stays on the claw for that recipe. I have all the gear needed to shell them at the table but my OH wouldn't be into having to do that.
    I'd also need to reduce the quantities of the ingredients, there's not that many claws in the pack.
    Although, I do have raw prawns and mussels also, could maybe do a seafood dish.

    Think there were posts earlier about Nduja sausage.
    Just noticed that Lidl seem to have frozen pizzas in stock with that as a topping.

    Where was this debate? ;)

    There’s usually as many veggie items on my fry list (a grill just doesn’t sound as good) - eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and waffles or hash browns

    They've been serving it on Pizza Express (Milano) pizzas in the restaurants for years and years, it's been around for a good while but it hasn't really been easily available to purchase as an ingredient in its own right.

    Indeed yes. When I first realised ( thank you Mayo boards!) that the only delivery I was going to get was Supervalu. heartsink. as they were a shop I avoided as they were more expensive and limited than " the big 4"

    Then I found their website...as in "supervalu shopping "

    They have caught up wondrously. A good range at the low standard prices. And "luxury" ranges.. And a great delivery service policy.

    This is very much not my wheelhouse - can anyone give me ideas for gluten-free, and preferably dairy-free, meals that could be made in bulk, ideally without having to buy loads of specialist ingredients?

    Lentil curry (link to follow). Just make sure the spices are gluten free, for the rest you're good to go on all fronts, no need to add flour or anything with gluten to thicken it.

    Keep in mind, though, that with people with a gluten intolerance or a "light" allergy you're ok, but if you're cooking for someone with a severe case of caeliac disease, even a slight cross contamination can cause an adverse reaction, so even cooking tools should be kept separate, let alone the fact that buying certified ingredients would be a must.
