Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hey all, anyone interested in a codenames league. We ran one 2 years ago which was hugely successful, and given the current climate, it might be a good time to start another one.

    Just put your name down in this thread and if we get a min of 8 players, we can run a 4 team league.

    Please express if you dont want to be a captain and will avoid placing you on a team with a player who wishes the same.

    Format and rules to be decided later.

    Is there a list of forum-specific rules somewhere - like, giving a zero clue (where the guesser can take as many guesses as they wish until they get one wrong, presumably just trying to avoid the assassin card which fits the zero clue), using a clue that contains one of the unturned words on the board (eg. giving Easter: 2 for Sunday and Chocolate if "East" is on the board?), giving a location as the clue (Corner : 3 for three corner cards) or using a number AS sort of multiple clues (like 387: 3 for Triangle, Octopus and Black?)

    don't think corner would be allowed in any game ive seen played on FG yet.
    it comes under the rule, the clue must be about the meaning of the word, and corner is about where its located on the game board and not to do with the meaning of the word.

    Yeah, good, just checking. Someone gave me "Corner" as a clue for three corner cards once IRL, and I immediately picked "Edge", the assassin.

    You upload the attachment and copy the link. Then click the insert image option and paste the link.

    If you don't want to use boards attachments most image hosting sites should be ok

    Format and rules, can discuss and change before we start.

    Each team plays home and away (10 games each)
    Home team clues first
    3 pts for a win, 1 pt for loosing team if they have 2 or less words remaining
    Word different (similar to goal difference) winning team gets +1 for every word loosing team has left, loosing team gets -1 for their word. Used to assign league position if teams are on equal points

    No Google (or research) allowed to find clue or guess
    Home team cpt to create board. Each guesser to PM cpt a word, home teams word used first to create the board.
    Team can choose either player to cpt, no limit on how many times a payer can cpt

    Just realised GnR is Green&Red and that I pm'd the wrong poster after researching to come up with a passable Guns 'n Roses pun team name. Sigh.
