Most people don't have an array the size you have.. so batteries rarely last that long anyway. So if you can save some for the morning.

Yeah if you carry over a bit to the next day usually won't be the worst in the world to ride out the morning.

But if your finding your carrying over too much, maybe knock it off in the summer,

But you really don't want to be putting your valuable battery power into a EV,

On a good day (only since installation last month mind you) my battery is full by 12:30pm but dead by 10pm, those electric kitchen appliances take a toll.

What do you mean by battery power into EV?

You don't want to be charging an EV up during the day or night, with the power coming from your batteries - you only want it coming from the grid.

So take care in summer to to charge your batteries with ZERO watts at night to avoid discharging at the same time - if you plan to charge your EV

Oh. I just press a button in an app to disable battery discharge for the period I'm charging the EV, inverter supports it.

What a cracking day for December.
9.6kw so far, might hit 10kw. Not bad at all.
99.9kw for the month so far.

E/W FTW. Might not look the best at the moment, but over the whole year, you guys come out winners. Even if we do get a FIT.

Self consumption yes but not total output. But I take your point. We sacrifice production for 4 months to get production better matched to consumption for 8 months.

There isn't an awful lot of production to sacrifice in those 4 months :p

Mind, whenever the sun is out in full, I still get about 1.5kW, but only really between 11AM and 2PM

Hey guys would putting panels on roof with sides facing east and west be a waste of time?

10.24kWp array, 5.76kWp SSW, 4.48kWp ESE both 45 degree pitch in Cork.

    South: 243.60kWh
    East: 109.21kWh
    PV Total: 352.81kWh
    Best Day: 4th (22.95kWh)
    Worst Day: 9th (1.34kWh)

    Grid Import: 615.47kWh
    Grid Export: 30.21kWh

    House Usage: 772.22kWh
    Car Usage: 140.73kWh
    Water Usage: 25.12kWh

Interestingly my day/night split for energy usage went from 1/3 at night rate (before I got solar) to 3/4 at night rate since I also switched to night rate battery charging the night before low solar forecast days.

For self use of the electricity generated, it's often the best setup.

Prediction for Dec : Website :52 kWh, but Id say it would be more like 40.

5.6kwp, SE, No battery, HW divert, Donegal Low angle (15 degrees), Have Some shading in the low sun - Panels are shaded until at least noon now in dec.

-This has been my Dad's Array, Mines going up in January, 7.2kWp (20 panels) on a 6kwp inverter, Solartricity wouldn't warranty a 8.6kWp array. (24 panels)

Also will have 10kwh of BYO battery storage attached to it.. Currently fine tuning the settings on that now, Charging on Night rate, discharging during the day. Just waiting on a spell of dry weather to get on the roof safely.

Quite close to the Prediction though.

    Generation : 49.6kWh
    Solar Use(ex divert) :39.2kWh (79%)
    Divert : 4.2 kWh (22%)
    Export :6 kWh

website Prediction for Jan : 73kwh, But id still think it will be in the 60's due to shading.
