Just cleared this with one of the mods. Gonna try and compile a list of handy links that any boaters might find helpful. Suppose to start off:
    Club_powerboat
    Waterways_Ireland
Apollo_Duck (boats for sale in Ireland)
Shetland_Owners_association (If you have a Shetland)

Thats about the main ones from my Favourites but add some more if you have them

The DLHWeather site seems to have taken itself behind a paywall as promised

However, the site seems to be a mess, I tried to subscribe and kept getting redirected to a page "howdoigetrich.com"

Have phoned the (mystified) Harbour Company and they're making enquiries.

Having been prepared to annoy sailors (well, this one anyway) and who knows what other users of this information, you'd think they'd have at least got their ducks in a row before launching it

    http://dlhweather.com/

ETA - all sorted, it didn't like my email address for some reason.

Special offer of cheaper subscription for first 250 users - get in there quick!

    HeidiHeidi,

Do you reckon it's worth it? (Especially for those of us sailing out of Howth). IslandBawn is free and I already have a subscription to WindGuru... Given that it doesn't predict (I think?) what can it add above and beyond what's free on IslandBawn? (Southerly wind conditions I suppose would be one...)

I don't know of IslandBawn - is it an app or a website?? - but the advantage of dlhweather for me (particularly since I sail that side of the bay) is precisely that it's NOT a forecast, it's realtime info on what the wind is/has been doing. There's any amount of forecast sites out there, all of which can differ wildly so I tend to look at three or four of them and just average a guess at what might happen. Then check that against what's actually happening as we head out, and what has been happening for the previous few hours.

Sailing out of Howth might well mean very different wind conditions behind the head to what's happening in DL, but it might be worth taking a look over a few weeks to see if it's any use to you.

I've grown so used to using it that a fiver for the year seems like grand value :) (although I'm still pissed off that they've started charging at all!)

IslandBawn is realtime weather info from Howth. Linky: http://www.islandbawn.com/

The only trouble being that Howth's a hill.. so the weather station is sheltered from the south. Which leaves me in a position that I have to wonder whether it's worth paying for the DL weather. Decisions, decisions. It does seem fairly cheap at €5 for a year as things go, but they'd want to be giving a hell of a lot of information above and beyond what they gave for free just months ago.

Aha, I must have been the only eejit to pay up :D

Notice now on home page that they've scrapped the subscription idea and will try to fund it some other way.

    http://dlhweather.com/

So you can play around with it and see what use it is to you, Miss No Stars!

So they have! Well that solves that problem. Now, let's give them HEAPS of clicks so they can get a good advertising/sponsorship deal!
