    Mini bottles???

    Oh the shame

    Where's the racism?

I'd have thought that her screaming “You f****** arses, you f****** Indian money-grabbing c****” might have been a tiny hint of some racial prejudice?

The trial judge's comments also might be a clue
Chairing the bench, Robert Della-Sala told O’Broin: “You clearly put the safety of the aircraft in jeopardy by smoking. You were disruptive to other passengers who must have found the whole experience quite shocking.

“The disruption was clearly over a long period of time, the level of racist abuse was prolonged and unwarranted — there’s no excuse for that."

Going on a rant against Indians does not automatically make you a racist. She didn't call them pakis.

She was a stupid drunk bitch but not a racist.

Morto for her. I'd say she is regretting this big time herself anyway once sobered up. But maybe other substances were in the mix too, who knows? Not that it is is any excuse for such behaviour either.

We all do mad things now and then, but rarely at 33k feet in the air!

Cabin crew are great dealing with this really. Probably more than we know.

You can usually get away with an awful lot if you say you had a few drinks while on strong painkillers, far worse than mere ranting.

    The tide is turning…

Was curious why she was wearing a bandage on her face during her case. Google image brought this website up.

That was fascinating as it was disturbing.

You have a very weird take on what racism is. Hint: It's more than getting someone's country wrong.

I admire your confidence in your opinions, in a way. The trial judge had access to all the evidence and spent years and years qualifying to make these kind of rulings. But you've read one article about it and you know better! It's almost impressive.

Surname is O’Broin. Anti-Israeli. Enough said. We get the picture.

There is but it stops when you get drunk. She had three bottles of wine before they called a halt to her drinking session.

I feel a bit sorry for her after reading that, but at the same time these kind of people are their own worst enemy.

Trips to India to source "alternative" therapies and cannabis oil, while refusing surgery on the NHS.
I don’t believe in cutting into Cancer and I was aware that BCC just doesn’t grow so quickly.
BTW if you listen to the start of her rant she says she is "an international lawyer for the Palestinian people" and "doesn't get paid".
That pretty much says it all.

Just another deluded half-wit champagne socialist.

I've encountered a lot of lawyers with an overinflated ego and tremendous sense of their own ability and self-worth bordering on mental illness, or possibly personality disorder. I'm not overly surprised at this braying ass. :pac:

Our company deals with some patent lawyers as well as physicists, biochemists, quantum chemists, surgeons ect. The patent lawyers are the only team that include members you cannot actually talk to without suspending reality. More or less everyone here is working in a substantially more complex field and they're the ones that are arrogant to the point of mental illness as you say.

    In a professional capacity?

Socially mainly, although the handful I've employed down through the years were mostly the same.

She has one of those hard and tough faces you get in a lot of Nordies. The bitterness is etched into it.

I couldn’t help but notice how many times the original Twitter post stated that she was Irish https://mobile.twitter.com/shukla_tarun/status/1062356754636423168 In fact, the post was at pains to point out her nationality.

Ah, from Belfast. So she's a Brit then.

Best to be safe and mention that she's Irish a few times. If they didn't, you'd have whingebags moaning about anti-Irish bias etc.

Whatever her behaviour in the past - it's a tragic conclusion to her story.

Sad ending for her, I'm not sure her jail sentence would have helped. She appeared to do a lot of good things helping refugees and her flight actions out of character. Very hard to deal with the social media onslaught too. RIP

Very sad ending for this woman. And the lesson to this story is not to get rat arsed on a long haul flight.

its sad for sure but out of character or her true character came to the surface?

People are fragile creatures and everyone here has had a bad day or too I'm sure, add to that chronic illness, grief, obvious stress and excessive drinking and a person's character can be distorted beyond belief.

She clearly did a lot of good in her time whilst personally suffering and that should be remembered overall.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,764 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

...everyone here has had a bad day or too I'm sure...

Aye, I have, but I didn't end it with a racist rant and serious safety breaches on an international flight. There's the difference.

I'm not a fan of remembering the good things they did if there are glaring points to show what that person is really like. Shur didn't Bill Cosby get the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002, he is included in the book 'The 100 Greatest African Americans', a well known comedian and actor who did a lot of good. When he dies, we'll just forget that he drugged and sexually assaulted about 60 women. Shur he was grand before that.

I could Godwin this too, but I won't, I'm sure my point is made.

It's nice to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes.

She got drunk on a flight and became verbally and racially abusive, subsequently had no recollection of it suggesting she blacked out and had no control over her actions and then serves her time in jail for it.

Don't see that she had any previous either and was also suffering from cancer and it appears that she went on to take her life in the fallout of it all.

Not sure how that compares to Bill Cosby raping over 60 women if I'm completely honest.
