Glad he had a good game hopefully he can find the form he is more than capable of sligo need him to be on top form
We play nice football that is a little too fragile at times for its own good. 5 points from a possible 21 simply cannot be justified when you consider the squad we have in comparison to some of the teams above us.

If tonight is anything to go by ye are going to batter a team soon enough.

Once ye get that win, ye be away.

But I think that start might come back to ye too sadly.

    Long way to go.

Big win over Pats in the setanta tonight. Hopefully some confidence in front of goal has now been regained and will be taken forward into the UCD game.

It really is a matter of win or bust as far as our dwindling title aspirations go.

Hopefully the result also attracts a crowd friday night.

So, who's getting behind the team tonight?

Hopefully it will be a good Good Friday for us.

1-0 to Rovers, Keane from spot. UCD down to 10 men.

Disappointing result tonight against Pats, following a recent run of good form. Now also facing a possible fine following the Pats pitch invasion when they took the lead. Hopefully Keene is not too damaged after his meeting with the advertising hordings.

    :(

On a slightly related note, former manager Cookie has got his current club Chesterfeild promoted to the English Football League 1 (former 3rd Division), after winning the Football League 2 (former 4th Division) today.

Why would St. Pats fans invading the pitch result in a fine for Rovers? hardly their fault.

The home side always gets penalised for anything that happens. It's seen as a fault of the security team.

Nothing much you can do about a bunch of cidered-up 16 year olds jumping a four foot wall.

My understanding is that it's up to our staff to control the crowd.

What was worse though. I seen no one being escorted from the ground.

    :(

I was at the game last night and the stewards managed to round up the offender quickly, they were brought back into the stand though.

I think the fact of the low volume of travelling support for the league is why they don't bother punishing the visiting teams, if this was a regular occurrence in the English premier league I'd guess visiting teams would have to play with their supporters banned from the stadiums for a certain number of games, maybe the FAI don't think it's worth doing.

I seen him my self being escorted back into the crowd, with at least one Pats fan, and not a child, being allowed to sit on the wall for at least 5 minutes afterwards.

To be fair to the Pats fans though, the majority did support the team well, with no reports of any other incidents.

That's true, every team has it's idiot supporters who don't reflect the overall supporter behaviour, even Rovers has them.

Roll on tomorrow against Derry, although I feel there might be quite a few tired legs seeing how much chasing they had to do last night.

Singin' in the rain this evening!
An All-Ireland for Sligo at last! ;)

Great Setanta cup win today. Well done to all at Rovers! :D

Were you at it Sean? Wondered what the atmosphere was like up there, watched it on tv and the weather really was terrible. Great win though, hopefully this might help turn their league season around and go on a run of wins, pegged back a bit in the second half, been a problem a few games this season.

No was working, rizzodun. Watched it on a stream though!

Felt comfortable all through, we were absorbing anything they threw at us well.
Was worried when Dave McMillan came on and was nearly proven right! He had a point to prove to Ian but Rodgers made the vital save.
Thought both sides tried to play nice football despite the atrocious conditions in the second half.

Happy to have won all the trophies on offer now!

Indeed, heart in mouth when they lobbed that ball into him between the two defenders twice in a few minutes! I'm not a regular spectator at the games due to work & kids etc but hopefully this success helps keep the gate receipts up, big difference to when they had massive barrels inside the turnstiles looking for donations to keep the club afloat. It's great to have something so successful and positive on our doorstep.

Ya it's great to see what can be done with a great committee in charge.
Big change from a few hundred people ambling out through potholes and puddles complaining, less than 10 years ago!
If someone had told me back then that we'd have so much success by now I'd have them sent to Columba's :D

Unfortunately it sometimes looks like our supporters now expect success without their presence at the games. I hope complacency doesn't take hold any further.
Nothing beats a Sat. night in the Showgies!

I fully agree, I hope I get to go more this season, only done two games I'm afraid. The kids passes are a great idea though, handing out free passes in the local schools to matches for U12s with a paying adult, with free face painting, ice cream and pizza, the best way to get future paying customers hooked, and bring current ones to the games.

They're doing great marketing to the young supporter now alright. It's the way to go.
I've been going in meself since I was 7/8 and that's longer ago than I'll admit to!!
Suffice to say I remember the great Johnny Brookes ;)

A good family atmosphere will appeal to many, even if they never had an interest in Rovers in the past.
There'll always be sunshine supporters I suppose, but I'd never refuse their money or insult them.

Despite the very dirty night yesterday evening, another great win for the Bit O'Red against Bray. Shams may be in control of the table at the moment, but hopefully if we can continue our run, we should be amongst the top soon.

Athlone and Dundalk both away this week.

Two huge and telling games this week. Hopefully two wins to put us closer to the top.

Also for anyone not in attendance last night, you'll never forgive yourself for missing Russell's goal. One to watch on soccer republic.

Great three points and another clean sheet. The game against Dundalk on from day could be interesting. Huge result for them last night.

No, it's because Ireland are playing the Saturday night.

We've been on a great run, but these next two games will ultimately show us if we have any part to play in the title race. Our hideous start to the campaign means we need four points at the very least.
