    Basically the shutter of a camera opens a certain number of times a second, frames per second. In this video the shutter is opening and closing at the exact rate of one rotation of the helicopter blades. It gives the effect that the blades on the helicopter are not moving.

    Its the opposite of what you see on TV, when a computer screen is being filmed you can see the lines running down the screen, because the camera can see them, but the human eye is not quick enough.

    Read elsewhere that Kingfisher are in trouble. Only 28 of their 64 unit fleet are currently flyable. They are ending leases on some aircraft, assume this is one of them. Doesn't look in great nick, maybe sitting on the ground for a while?

    Indian banks have frozen their accounts as they haven't paid their taxes.

    Indian Govt is giving them a lifeline with strict conditions.

    Yes they are. The airline is dragging the rest of the Kingfisher group (beer) down. Due to previous unpaid bills the airline has to pay cash at every airport they use hence most of the routes have been shut down. Some aircraft and routes have been put up for sale but no other airline is interested. Salaries have not been paid so pilots, crew and ground/office staff are walking. It's a real mess.

    Over the weekend 9 -10th March the United Arab Emirates Air Force took delivery of the first of two former Abu Dhabi Aviation DeHavilland Canada DHC8Q-315's to be converted to the maritime surveillance role by Provincial Aerospace in Canada. The aircraft serialled 1321 ex A6-ADG was flown to the UAE from St.Johns via Shannon and Palermo sporting radars, FLIR and other sensors in the may protrusions seen in the photo. These aircraft will play a very important role in ensuring that the vital oil shipping lanes are protected during heightening tensions in the area as well protecting ships from the ongoing threat of pirates.

    Seen here departing Shannon 23rd March is Air Malta A320 9H-AEO in a special scheme promoting Valetta as a candidate city to the European "Capital of Culture" for 2018. The scheme was applied while the aircraft was on maintenance with Shannon Aerospace with the city-scape decals produced by Eirtech Aviation. The Airbus departed to Luqa for the official unveiling of the promotional livery.

    Just following up on that great picture of Sligo's S61N 257. I thought that CHC had the contract for S&R and that all of the Sikorsky's were theirs. So how come Aer Corp is on this one, is it crewed by Aer Corp as well?

    That picture was taken in 2004, AFAIK the Aer Corps had one leased in to operate from Shannon. Open to correction on that point.

    aint she just!, reg is HZ-AB3 cn:22362 shes a 727-022(RE)(WL) operated by Al Anwa Aviation a charter company based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,

    its a pity that there wasnt some moisture in the air when she came in because she was trailing massive vortices on landing, we could hear them for at least 15/20 secords after she touched down, dunno if the flaps or the winglets caused them but they were allmost as loud as a 757s. she dep SNN on sun morning about 9, just missed her, could see her climbing out on my way into shannon in the morning sun, looked amazing.

    With the arrival of this Kuban B737 during the night there were Boeings in the colours of SIX Russian airlines at Shannon ! Only sun though was the sun flowers !
