Quote: "All executives are paid in the 25th-50th percentile of the compensation range for executives in comparably sized companies"

What does this mean in layman's terms?
    Thanks as always

The 25th percentile salary means that 25% of executives in comparably sized companies have a salary below this number. It is expressed as a €/$/£ amount, not a %.

The 50th percentile salary means that 50% of executives in comparably sized companies have a salary below this number, and so on.

    A €40,000
    B €43,000
    C €44,000
    D €50,000
    E €52,000
    F €60,000
    G €75,000
    H €83,000
    I €100,000
    J €1,000,000
    Total €1,547,000
    Average €154,700

So, in this particular group, the 25th percentile salary is €43,000 and the 50th percentile salary is €52,000. If you do a similar calculation with your business / company size, you can see the equivalent numbers.

As executive J earns way may than anyone else and skews the average, they are completely unrepresentative. You can see that J has no effect on the 25th and 50th percentile salaries - this means things like the 50th percentile is more representative of what most people earn.
