How much will they is the question because the athletics will be on

So the BBC go and get the rights to the US PGA a year after wanting to get away from showing their national open championship.

This is all getting more and more bizarre as it goes on

It's all politics. Money doesnt come into it when you've stubborn pricks at the table.

It sounds weird alright. Maybe The Open wanted money and the PGA wanted viewers?

So we are gonna be subjected to Alliss's sh1te talk again. There's not the same romance around the USPGA so it will be even more unbearable and out of touch with the modern game.

Like them or not but skys open coverage and build up is miles ahead of the bbc. Open Zone is surprisingly enjoyable, even when DJ can hardly string a sentence together.

BBC removed the red button from Irish viewers late last year.

I think it can still be accessed via the "other channels" menu on Sky? Open to correction on that.

I know that whne you access ITV with that option you can't get HD version or use sky plus to pause and rewind coverage.

Not sure whats happened here, but its a joke. Sky have supported golf for at least 15 years, christ they show the europro tour, every two bit event from Kazakhstan to Australia.

Obviously, know nothing about the commercial decision behind it but on the face of it though, it looks fishy as cant imagine BBC are forking out big cash for it.

Who makes the decision how it is shown, is it the PGA of America or their broadcast affiliations? NBC? ABC?

its works on my sky box - mind you i have an old uk card in it.

if you have a satellite tv, stick the cable straight into that and it should work for you

Great, the prospect of golf uninterrupted. Golf, just golf.

apart from the fact that the world athletics championships is on, and that they'll shove it to the red button and we dont have the red button in ireland.

And they'll probably bring in michael vaughan to interview rory on his three majors

Get yourself a box that will pick up BBC UK on freesat. Should get a basic one pretty cheap. Ok, if you want pause and record etc you'd have to fork out a bit more.... but the basic option probably won't cost more than 40 or 50 Euro. Old SKY box would do it too...... Initiate it without SKY card and it defaults to UK channels....

If you have a Sky dish you can add BBC Red Button to the Extra Channels. You can download the frequency from the Sky website.

Apart from the fact it will be a US television feed with commercials and BBC have to fill with waffle

But the waffle is the best part

Fair point. I'd still prefer golf related 'waffle' to endless ads.

Especially when it's totally non p.c. Peter Allis. I hope he's still on the go if only for the next quip to get the pc brigade going (e.g. another new kitchen for the missus). :)

Hopefully the weather is nice so he can comment on local fashion (Sergio's missus)

Sky really have shot themselves in the foot with their boasting of "home of the 4 majors". It's for that reason if you call up today and complain that it is not, you will get a reduction off your Sky subscription rate.

Did calling them up and saying that actually work? Must try them tomorrow.

It did indeed... a friend called today and got €29 off per month for the next 6 months (which I'm guessing is the remainder of his contract).

That seems like a pretty massive reduction.

The Sky Sports pack is €40 per month.Seems massive to be giving a reduction of 75% of this for losing one weekend of golf.
