Stokes gone now, run rate creeping up. Once Buttler or Root goes, that's surely game up?

TV, sponsors, festivals back in India??? That's where the money is, AFAIK. So likely some financial reason :)

    You weren't far off.
It's to do with IPL scheduling apparently.

334 England score and loose the game. Pakistan score 348.. That’s nuts ! 682 runs scored in a days cricket, 100 overs...great stuff. Mad thing is if Root and Butler had meaningful help in the upper order they are probably winning this.

Well fair dues to Buttler and Root, they made a good go of it. Tight enough at the end but great win for the Pakistanis :)

Bit of a wake up call for England, possibly the best thing for them.

Poor ol Eoin Morgan - clean bowled by what looked like a fairly straight ball.

SL v AFG today, in what will probably be a fairly one-sided affair.

    AFG choose to bowl first.

Not enough info there, put your head on the line: one-sided for which team! ;)

    Well in Afghanistan!

    Well in Afghanistan!

And a run out now!! Minutes after another near run out. Sri Lanka are crumbling.

Yep; from 144-1 to 159 -6 in 26 balls is an impressive collapse.

5 wickets in 4.2 overs for the addition of 15 runs. That's turned this match round big time - SL may not see out their overs, and are perhaps showing why they are the second lowest ranked ODI team in the tournament, with only Afghanistan below them

Real chance for Afghanistan to make their mark now

    178-7 with 18.3 overs left

    Rain stops play!

    SL 182-8 (33 overs)

Off for rain, and, looking at the weathermap, it could be a lengthy delay. But a Duckworth-Lewis target would suit the Afghans very nicely methinks.

you have to hope that they can get back out, would be a pity for Afghanistan if they don't.

Aye Afg could be stiffed of the points if they don't get back on. 17:51 is the key time.
Hello again, it's still hammering it down in Cardiff but there are a hardy band of supporters still at the stadium who seem to be enjoying themselves, despite the elements. Huddling together for shelter, they are taking in the music being played on the PA system and remain hopeful.

The position is that play has to resume by 17:51 BST or the match will be abandoned and it will be one point each. Now the Cardiff groundstaff are used to mopping up the rain, it has to be said, so if it does stop raining their expertise will be invaluable.

Rashid gets through the last two wickets quickly. 201 the total. Target is 187 off 41 overs.

SL lose 9 wickets for something like 53 runs

Eminently gettable, remembering that Sri Lanka were going at 7 an over until the collapse.

Making a little work of it now - 2 down for 43 but only 4ish needed an over, assuming rain keeps off. Assume they wanted to score heavily and quickly as possible in case game has to be stopped.

    Afghans falling like skittles now..

Little bit of a comeback here. Long way to go for Afghanistan and they need these to stay for a good bit

This format is a heap of balls! Doesn't feel like a WC

Watched part of it on Sky. The outfield was saturated and the Sri Lankan fielders were sliding all over the place. I'm very surprised that the umpires deemed it playable, but such is the power of the television channels that the unfortunate players are merely pawns on the financial chessboard.

Well done to Sri Lanka, I couldn't see them winning that one.

Yeah, the Afghan batsmen up the order let it slip - got off to a good start and instead then of knuckling down to 4 an over with singles, twos and the odd boundary, they went awol.

3 defeats and its close to curtains for SA, its possible a few teams will tie on 3 defeats, and RRR will decide, but not a position they want to be in playing NZ and WI in 2 of their next 3 games!
