I pulled against the Israeli Defense Forces in their Olympic training village at Wingate Uni, Netanya. Israel in 2001 ~ we won :cool:0 -

I was pulling until recently, but the summer schedule of training and Sundays away didn't suit with changes at work
Like you said, it's definitely one of the toughest sports going. It'd be great if it became more popular here.0 -

Not fan of most US sports but this guy was voted best sportsman of the 20th century in some polls.

These medals were taken off him because he had played some professional baseball.
After this he played professional baseball for NY Giants, Chicago White Soxs
He played professional football before NFL was founded.
He played professional basketball.
BTW this is 1912 Olympics pic and he is wearing two different shoes and socks because someone stole his own and he found these discarded in rubbish.
They were different sizes so had multiple socks in one.0 -

And Jim Thorpe was the guy that bet Mayo's finest athlete's record in the decathlon in the US.
Martin Sheridan won 5 (or 3 if you discount 06) Olympic golds, 9 (4 if you discount 06) Olympic medals in total.
He won Discus Gold in 04, 06 and 08.
Greek Discus Gold in 08 and Shotput gold in 06.
In 1988 he was inducted into the USA Track & Field hall of fame.

1906 Intercalcated Games in Athens is not officially an Olympics, but recognised as such by some.
I love the way he keeps the old socks up and that if he steps back he gets a sholve in the ar**.
