KEVIN SHARKEY STUDIO SALE
Sharkey, a self taught artist, was born in Dublin in 1961. He spent his formative years in Donegal and this is where he calls home. He began painting fifteen years ago and after a diverse career where he worked as a fisherman, a television presenter, a photographer and a song-writer, he now paints full time.

Included in the sale are a large collection of magic lantern slides featuring Irish and International scenes. The slides, which had lain forgotten about for many years, recently came to light during a house clearance in Dunmanway. It appears from the press report below that they are largely from commercial magic lantern slide producers but they are very interesting nonetheless. Hegarty’s are guiding a price of €1,500 – €2,500 and it will be interesting to see what interest there is in them.
Lot.405. Important late 19th century magic lantern, made by Riley Bros of Bradford, who later pioneered cinema in Britain, with accompanying slides of Irish & international subjects of significant historical interest.

Approximately 360 lots from the Monastery House of the De La Salle Brothers in Dundalk .
This Monastery House has been the home of the Brothers who have played a prominent role in education in Dundalk since they were invited here in 1899. Generations of schoolboys and girls have received their education thanks to the De La Salle brothers, who founded the primary school and later the secondary school which still bears their name.
Brian Carroll of Sherry FitzGerald Carroll states that “A range of items will be offered on the day and we expect considerable interest in the Antique & Church Items including Large Bookcases, Dining tables, Sideboards, Wardrobes, Dining Chairs, Roll Top Desks and a range of historical books & literature“.
Important Church items also include a Large Vestment Chest, Statues, Candlesticks, Station of the Cross, Leaded Glass Window Panels, Lectern, Pictures and Pine Statue Stands.
