Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Welcome to the Hearing and Deafness Forum.
    This Forum is for all who are interested in issues relating to hearing and deafness, signing etc.

    There are just a few things to note when posting here,

    Most important:

    The posts or content of the forum are not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician, hearing professional, or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical/hearing condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of content found on this forum.

    1) No Muppettry, trolling, abuse or racism.

    2) No Flaming. Different people have different theories. You can disagree with and debate them without flaming. Heated debates should not be taken personally.

    3) Ban on 'deaf' jokes. If you come onto the site just to make deaf jokes you will be banned. We don't want to remove humour from the forum, but all the deaf jokes have been told and are pretty tedious at this stage. Especially the follow-ups that result from, for example, saying 'did you hear about...' which is a perfectly ordinary phrase that can be used to and by anyone. Do not turn threads into 'degrees of deafness' competitions or nitpicking about whether someone has hearing loss or is deaf.

    5) Discussions on makes and prices of aids, and services experienced from suppliers are permitted; this does not include advertising or shilling. It also does not include details of consultations with named or identifiable consultants. Please do not speculate on, or recommend types of hearing aids that a poster might need, each individual needs professional advice.

    -Any spammer or suspected spammer will banned and their post deleted.
