Anyone know why PP and Betfair and others aren’t accepting bets on the Kentucky derby?

Fairly sure it's a licensing issue.

Ladbrokes and Boyles both had prices up when I was in shop earlier.

Was told that PPs has no affiliation with The Business/Casino that run the Kentucky track...(I had a treble on Mabs Cross/Saxon Warrior/Mendelsson written on the docket...;-))

I haven't a clue whatsoever about us racing but surely Mendelssohn at 5s is a bet?

Just reading there that Ryan Moore has a career record of 0 wins from 18 in North American dirt races.

    Surprising stat!

I wouldn't think that is a big enough sample size. But I'd imagine he hasn't been on many more fancied than this one.

Anyone backin him at these prices is nuts.

As much as I think Aidan deserves the Kentucky Derby, I really struggle to see how he justifies favouritism. I am just after watching some of the under card races and the track looked sloppy as ****, and with the draw that Mendelssohn has, it is seriously going to struggle. In terms of value, I like Audible at 8/1.

Crazy Paddy Power won’t take a bet on it as they practically bet on anything that moves.

It's pure slop there. Seahenge didn't raise a leg on it in the mile .

I'd say they wouldn't be to bothered considering it would literally be a 1 horse book.

    Deauville NR.

Ground must be an absolute mess.

    Noble Indy e/w for me.

I wouldn't underestimate Mendelssohn just because of O'Brien's record in the race. He's a big strong dirt-royalty bred individual who shouldn't be hamstrung by being unsuited to the Kentucky Derby conditions.

My biggest worry would be that Ryan Moore is on his back, but I think the fact that the Americans have played down his chances means the pressure is off team Mendelssohn.

Not a fan of Moore in general or just on dirt tracks?

    Rubbish from Mendelssohn

Can't believe people actually enjoy that, it's not a race at all. Shocking.

Very harsh, it had an impossible task given the sloppy track and outside draw.

100%. Wide draws in these Big US races a curse.

Not a fan of him at all, but I don't think he can take the blame for that. It was a terrible draw and mad scramble that the horse couldn't handle. Conditions were so bad that for most of the race I couldn't even pick out the Mendelssohn colours.

Really Coolmore should be using a top American Jockey for an occasion like this. I was looking at all the American/Mexican jockeys beforehand and thinking that these guys ain't going to think twice about squeezing out Moore if they get the chance.

When O Brien learns how to train a horse to hit the gate running he might have a chance in American dirt races. 20+ years now he still hasn't cracked it. Did anyone realistically think he had a chance? Finished pretty much were you'd expect it to.

Yea dead last at 6/1 makes sense

Regardless of draw last is poor

The winner was hugely impressive, sloppy track probably favoured pace horses, but the winner is a proper horse

Watched the start a dozen times just there, reckon the race was over within the first dozen strides. Justify broke beautifully. People will say it was given a positive ride, but the reality is that the horse was schooled to within an inch of its life.

Boylesports were offering an incredible 11/4 on him or u could have had a hugely generous 16/1 on an O'Brien 1000,2000 and Kentucky Derby treble. Mind boggling.

Fair point, I naively thought the dream might be on because he had the right material, but in hindsight there's no point in sending a fairly soft 3 year old over to take on those teak tough Yankee horses in their premier race.

On O'Brien's record in dirt races, he won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Dirt with Johannesburg and went very close in the Breeders Cup Classic with Giants Causeway and Henrythenavigator, horses with zero experience of dirt racing.

The "iron horse"was an incredibly tough performer. Henry not so much.you can get away with breaking slowly in Europe but not over there. I'm Surprised they haven't gone the American based jockey route by now. Moore got murdered by them in the first furlong tonight due to not breaking well. The Weather didn't help. Best to keep him for the 2nd leg where they'll likely be a smaller field, all might not yet be lost.
