Have been a boxing fan since I was a kid, and would love to get back and do a bit of training, sparring etc. while also getting a bit of coaching.

Excuse my ignorance, but would any of these clubs welcome someone like me who's getting on a bit and has no real interest in competition at this point, but would love to do a bit of sparring and training ? I'm thinking most clubs are primarily aimed at amateur competition boxers and wouldn't really have many people who just want to work out.

Any information would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

I'm involved with Monkstown Boxing Club - we are out Dun Laoghaire direction.

We have quite a few members with us that just want to get/keep fit...........they are actually great men to have around the club for Sparring partners etc. If the coaches are late these guys take the warm-ups etc. actually a few of them are waiting to do there coaching exams.

Cheers, Northside Dublin would be much handier for me, but I reckon you're probably not unique over there. Might be worth my while contacting a few of them.
    thanks a lot

It depends on the club peg, its becoming more acceptable for girls to do boxing but not all clubs cater for girls, best thing to do is ring your local area clubs and ask, Katie taylor from bray is world champion at the moment so there is hope for ya.

I was a member of Darndale Boxing Club for over 10 years and now look back on it with a big smile on my face. I do regret finishing early but it wasn't to be for me, however I dont think they'd find a weight category for me now as I've gone from a light welter weight to nearly 17 stone---- content living thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it:)

I'm in my later 20's and have never boxed before but I've been getting fit again recently and would like to take up boxing for the exercise and with a view to seeing how I got on with the sport.

I asked in one club and they told me I'd be better looking into an adult boxing sort of place, and told me about one that was near the national sports centre or somewhere like that, but I haven't been able to find it.

Does anyone know the place he was referring to or know of another place that's suit me?

    +1

In the same situation as Scifo, had a few boxcercise classes and loved the workout so would like to continue but I'm not with that gym anymore. If anybody knows any place in the Christchurch/ Leonard's Corner area that'd be great?
