Hi, looking to find a weather report for Virginia, Co. Cavan on the 1st April (Sunday last), looking for temp & wind speed. Trying google but only getting weather predictions for the area. Is there any site that can give past weather data?

    Thanks.

Hi. Not sure of Virginia, but Met Éireann have stations in Ballyhaise and Mullingar which would probably be very similar to Virginia on the day in question.

I'm sure there are easier ways of getting this information, but SYNOP codes are released from all weather stations every day giving the weather at the time of the report.
You can get past SYNOP reports from Ballyhaise on that day from ogimet here and for Mullingar here.
Not sure if you are in any way familiar with synop codes. But I'll show you the information you'd be interested in.

This is the first synop report from Ballyhaise on April 1st.
The "/" in the first bolded five figures is reserved for cloud cover but it's an automatic station so it can't estimate cloud cover. The next two numbers is the wind direction in tens of degrees (ie 290 degees in this case). Then the next two numbers are the wind speed (01 metres per second)

The last 3 numbers in the second bolded five numbersgives the temperature in tenths of degrees (ie 2.5 degrees). The "0" before it means the temperature is positive.
It's the same for the other codes in the pages above.

Just realised that this is probably the worst attempt at describing how to decode SYNOP codes. Apologies. Hopefully someone has an easier way.

For some reason synops are only reported on ogimet every 3 hours for Ballyhaise and one or two other automatic stations. But here they are in a more manageable format

Possibly a stupid question, but where abouts can you find that on the ogimet site? Much handier than trying to decode synops.

Or click on World Synop Navigation on the bottom left menu, zoom in on Ireland and click on an individual station.
