Im currently reading a biography on the life of Napoleon by Paul Johnson

Its a fantastic little book, just shy of 200 pages. Its a wealth of knowledge spanning the entire career of a great man.

Would anyone like to recommend other concise biographys of Historic Figures that people may enjoy without being bogged down in masses of detail and opinion?

Im looking for one on Stalin, Robert Emmet and Padraig Pearse. Any recommendations?

Patrick Geoghegans book is just shy of 250 pages. You should start there.

A Dutch chap (Joost Augustijn... or something like that) recently wrote a book on Pearse, have been meaning to read it. Ruth Dudley Edward's book is interesting, though profoundly controversial. (IF you ask me its not nearly as vitriolic as its made out to be by people who haven't read it. In fact, she's quite sympathetic to Pearse in many chapters)
