I wouldnt believe a word out of his mouth.

There is no chance of Electric Picnic going ahead this Sept.

The government need to make a decision about mass gatherings in the summer and be done with it

Certain officials of the government/NPHET out getting peoples hopes up

Latest on gov website is that it'll be the end of June before they consider gatherings:

A number of higher-risk activities will be considered at the end of June for later in the year including:

Doesn't say much tbh other business talk

Would be great if they down events of all sizes like the UK

Maybe have Picture This or another band play the 3Arena to a few 1000s etc

I wouldn't worry too much about what's on Gov.ie. It's a very dynamic and fluid situation. As we continue to open up, the numbers will drive the decisions. As long as there's no dramatic deterioration in hospital and ICU numbers, I think dates will continue to be brought forward. We've survived the secondary schools being back relatively unscathed, I can't see retail, training etc pushing things up. Once hotels and outdoor hospitality look stable after 2 weeks, anything goes. Vaccination numbers will be significant at that stage.

I think it's better that it's left open as a definite answer now would be no. Hard to see big festivals going ahead but at least as time goes on might mean there is a slim chance over no chance at all. Could still be issues with insurance etc too but still could be some smalle to medium size things going ahead hopefully!

Its both sad and frustrating looking at Artists social media accounts and seeing plans for gigs in the US happening with some taking place very very soon

Simple solution don't look at their tour dates.

The Stadium Tour (Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Guests) in the US has been rescheduled to summer 2022

Interesting that ATM the Hella Mega Tour US leg is taking place as scheduled in July 2021

Daily Mail reporting that 30,000 fans could get to All Ireland finals at end of August. Would take it with a pinch of salt and that many of fans in an outdoor stadium that can hold 80,000 might be logistically different than same crowd at outdoor concert or festival but interesting all the same. https://twitter.com/leeofthemail/status/1396408364633100288?s=19

Sounds promising but they probably won't even think about indoor shows going into Autumn/Winter

Could be some headache for promoters for ticketed events (that have been rescheduled) if there's any social distanced needed

Atm quite a few events still scheduled to go ahead from August onwards

The other big problem is whether promoters and acts are going to commit to expensive gigs/tours when there is every chance of some horrible new variant wrecking their plans.

Then there's the fact that a lot of the guys who were booked for dates or planning their umpteenth farewell tours before this happened are in - or on the cusp of - their 70s and even 80s (Happy birthday, your Bobness!).

Are these guys really going to want to risk their health for one last shot at topping up their pension funds on a victory lap of the enormodomes?

Let's hope its a genuine effort and not a micky mouse thing

A few Irish bands/acts playing the 3Arena would make sense

The first gig back is not going to be in the 3 arena.......

    NPHET Recommends

' 500 allowed at smaller venues, with limit of 5,000 or 25pc capacity in larger stadia such as Croke Park from August 2nd'

Guess i wont be seeing Genesis in Dublin in September then

If say U2 were to play croke park at 25% capacity, I expect the first 20m from the stage would be indisinguishable from a 100% capacity gig.

It's not like what was going on in cinemas where people were dotted around with empty seats beside each other.

If they tried to do that in stands people would leave their seats and migrate towards the front to better seats.

Probably not feasible with capacity restrictions alone but would have to have segregated areas and lot of stewards/security.

    Hardly likely to happen though.

Firstly because TX prices would be through the roof. As would the costs for insurance and finding sufficient security staff to try and prevent the crowd from invading the pitch.
