Just wondering if anyone on here is buying outside of Dublin at the moment? Most of the discussions here seem to be based around Dublin so just looking for some context. We are currently buying in midlands and wondering what are people’s thoughts on the market outside major cities at the moment.

Is it near work, is it a nice area, is your job secure, can you afford it? If yes, then the market is really irrelevant if you don't intend on selling.

Years ago I remember guys in a bar saying g that their house was worth 500k. When I asked as to when they were selling they told me they weren't. This type of asset speculation is only that, speculation. If you can afford it reasonably and you want to live there then go for it.

If it's an investment however, I wouldn't buy in the midlands. While they can make the biggest gains, they're also the first to tumble like a stack of cards in a recession.

Yes we live here currently and work nearby etc. and will be our main residence so not an investment. We are trading up though so also have a house to sell! Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the market at the moment!
