Boards.ie downtime (Wednesday 23rd September)

Hello all,

We have some technical maintenance to take care of on Wednesday 23 September and so there may be intermittent access to boards during the day.

The tech team tell me that there shouldn't be any prolonged delays, but as anyone who's ever worked in IT will tell you - sometimes it's best to expect the unexpected!

So if it's a thing that the site's out of action on Wednesday, give it five or ten minutes and try it again. We will do our best to keep you updated via our Twitter feed (twitter.com/boards_ie).

You have to schedule your downtime around us, not the other way around

Anytime after 4pm on Wed you're grand to work away..I'm finished work then and can't be surfing boards on my own time

So that was that, as some of you may have noticed, the downtime lasted a lot longer than we'd anticipated. Long story short, there are 2 database servers and when they weren't talking to each other properly, everything went a bit pear shaped and so took a long time to restore from a backup. As I said in the first post, when you're doing this sort of job you have to expect the unexpected!

Thanks for all your patience whilst this was going on folks, early reports suggest that productivity in Ireland shot up 57% by lunch time on Wednesday
