The biggest problem with that link is that it is 'difficulty medium'
which is too hard for me..plus i prefer to not serve up troll :p

    hi!
I'm looking for baking - recipes without eggs, milk, yeast, nuts or chocolate.
    Any ideas?

  • Registered Users Posts: 144 ✭✭Doctor Benway

You could try here. It's a PETA site with a load of recipes on it. One thing to bear in mind, though: it does tend to include brand name vegetarian or vegan products from the US that might not be available here. However, even if the recipe itself doesn't suit, you can always use it as a starting point for ideas and Google similar recipes.

Vegan shoes and sweets and stuff:

Is there anywhere in dublin like these places? They sell vegan jelly in the health shop in Stevens Green, but that's about it as far as I know.

    The Hungry Tiger Blog

http://stuttercut.org/hungry - This girl is an inspiration because she's so free and creative with her food. I really envy that because I tend to play it safe with recipes.

    The Post Punk Kitchen

http://www.theppk.com - First of all Isa rocks because she just does. Look, they have their own cable access show (the Wayne & Garth of food, if you like) and their food (what I've tried) is great. Loads of Vegan baking too (somone asked above) Buy a DVD, buy the book! (or not)

I like humous sometimes but not very often. There's a humous that's sold in The Old English Market (in Cork City) and it's delicious; it's made with sun-dried tomatoes and chilli too. It's very good. Although expensive, it is strong tasting, so you don't need to buy much of it. I sometimes but it and some ciabatta bread in the market.

    Roasted Red Pepper Hummus.

Serve this as a dip with raw veggies or as a spread for sandwiches. You could also enjoy this on its own in half a whole wheat pita with tomatoes and cucumber slices.

1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed. (410g)
60g (2 oz) chopped roasted red peppers.
    30g (10oz) tahini.
Half a teaspoon of ground cumin.
    Half a teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil.
    2 tablespoons of water.
    1 tablespoon lemon juice.
    1 small clove garlic crushed.

*In a food processor, pulse together the chickpeas, peppers, tahini, cumin and slat. With the food processor running, add the oil and water until it is very smooth. Pulse in the lemon juice and garlic.

**Note: I use sundried tomatoes instead of the red peppers! as many as you like 3 or 4 depending on how you like it yourself**
So easy to make and really delicious!
    :)

    Dried Chickpeas

2 cans chickpeas, drained & rinsed.
2 table spoons extra virgin olive oil or rapeseed oil
    Half teaspoon of salt
    Pinch of Cayenne

In a large bowl, toss the chickpeas with the oil, salt and cayenne. Spread them onto large baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake them in a 200 degree c (gas mark 6) oven, shaking the pan a couple of times during cooking, for about 45 minutes, or until golden. Leave to cool.

Makes about 675g (1 and a half pounds)

Helpful hint, you can add more salt or other spices if you would like to change the flavour of the chick peas.#

Thought I'd throw this link in here: http://www.irishcraftbrewer.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=19

Follow it to find a recipe for my three bean chilli, a cheap, tasty and easy to make dish, which will be appreciated by vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

don't know about anyone else but I hate using cookbooks with picture cus my food never looks like the one in the book which is why I love the arty chokes Livejournal community - its a veggie and vegan recipe journal but what is great is that people who posts recipes have to post several pictures of the steps so you can really see how the dish develops and what it looks like at the end.

    one of my favs

    Hi guys,

I don't think this website is 100% vegetarian but there are loads of veggie recipes on there & I think almost all can be easily adapted to be veggie:

    http://www.101cookbooks.com

She's won a few blog awards with the site & also has a cookbook in the shops now. Plug over :)
