    Hi all

We're still trying to reach a decision on installing a multifuel stove. We're pretty sure at this stage we'll go with a boiler stove and have looked at the Charnwood cove 2b, Clearview 750, Hunter, Stovax and yeoman. We're looking at heating a large open plan living room, hot water and max. 12 rads (calculating each double as 2)

Do any of you have any experience with stoves which promised everything but didn't deliver?

    Thanks

    Hi,

If your budget allows then the clear winner is clearview:D Charnwood though are a very good stove and cheaper. Yeoman and stovax I would say equal in quality. If your budget does not allow a clearview how about woodwarm. The hunter is not bad but I prefer villager. Villager and hunter stoves are about the lowest priced boiler stove that is a brand thats well known.

We have had three villager stoves and have found them reliable pretty economical and represent very good value for money. We had a villager AHI woodburner running 12 radiators in an old french house. It heated the radiators really well using wood only and replaced the oil guzzling boiler. If you do go for villager or hunter buy the optional flue damper.
We now have a villager berkley boiler stove heating our home here in Ireland. It was lovely and warm all over even in the very cold spell.
Have a look at whatstove for different reviews by owners.http://www.whatstove.co.uk/ Have a look through and you will find the poor stoves, although not all the manufacturers are listed.

Hi i am just wondering did you go with a stove with back boiler in the end. We are trying to decide at the moment. We have a big kitchen dinning area the whole lenght of the house it is 9m by 5m. We will also be running six double rads of the stove as well. just wondering if you did put in the back boiler stove what stove did you go for and does it heat the six double rads if you decided to go with the room heating stove are you happy with your decision. Thanks
