Slightly farcical in that I know people whose land the road goes through and the first they had heard of it was down the local pub!

In fairness, the road does not go through anybodys land yet, nobody knows where the road will be. There are several possible corridors, with each corridor being 300m wide. There will be several hundred land owners on these corridors, a large percentage of whom who will not be affected by the road (those whos land is on a corridor not selected, those whos land is on the selected corridor but the final alignment does not go through their land). NRA cant engage individually with every possibly affected landowner at this stage because that will only result in a lot of wasted time for both the NRA and landowners not affected by the final alignment. There is an onus on the landowners in the area to inform themselves and engage with the process., the NRA can only do so much at this stage, hence the website, consultation meetings, etc. Just because some guy only found out about his land being on a corridor in the pub doesnt make it a farce, he was probably aware of the intention to build a new road in the area but failed to inform himself further. The information is out there and everybody is free to make a submission. When the final alignment is selected and those landowners who will actually be affected by the road are known, they will each be engaged on an individual basis and the CPO arrangements will ensure they are fairly compensated.

Absolutely spot in post I just hadnt the energy to make the points. Some people will claim they havent heard of it until the excavators arrive!

This road is well down the priority list but it needs to be done eventually IMO. Option 2 looks good, surely it would incorporate some of the N21 as far as Rathkeale. That in turn would push it up to primary route improvement which should help with the waiting process.

Public consultation only closed last month. The next stage is route selection which you probably won't hear anything about before the end of the year.

A decision is to be made by December, possibly as early as September

Route corridor option 2 or 4 looks the best by far for benefits of both routes.

Is this really going to be pushed to tender by next year or 2017? Will be interesting to see. And is it HQDC?

After route selection you've got design, EIS and then it has to go to planning. Highly unlikely to go to tender in that time period.

Well according to Patrick O'DonovanTD the scheme will make provision for an adare bypass so the decision must be made but not made public. 1 of the routes does not provide for an Adare bypass.
This is on his facebook page.

i'm on the route that doesnt go via adare and while i see it as good news it obviously isnt for people affected by the other routes.

Given that its on a politicians page ill wait for something more concrete. the news was probably brought to him by a mermaid riding a unicorn escorted by some flying pigs.

I thought the Adare bypass was part of this EU Funding for the New N69 Road, So why did the Government yesterday claim they are paying for it??? I'm just a bit confused??

They didn't. The N69 and N28 are both listed as having EU funding.

Yes that is correct I know that... but the Adare Bypass is already included in the plans with the new N69 which is EU funded. The bypass plans are already on the Blue,Green, Orange routes...
I'm just wondering why the government are saying they are paying for the Adare bypass when technically they are not telling the full truth....

    This was their announcement yesterday
    M7 widening & Sallins bypass
    N8/N25/N40 Dunkettle Interchange
    N22 Ballyvourney / Macroom bypass
    N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin
    N5 Westport to Turlough
    N56 Dungloe to Glenties
    N56 Mountcharles to Inver
    N59 Moycullen bypass
New bridge and approach roads in Sligo (Sligo western bypass?)
Other schemes will be progressed subject to planning including:
    Shannon Crossing Bridge at Killaloe
    N6 Galway By-Pass,
    N72 Mallow Relief Road
    N21 Adare By-Pass
    N2 Slane By-Pass
N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy road (EU funded)
N69 Shannon to Foynes road (EU funded)
    Athy Southern Distributor Road
    Portlaoise Southern Distributor Road
Phase 4 of Dingle Relief road
    Laytown to Bettystown Link road.
Also included are the 3 PPPs, New Ross, Enniscorthy and Gort-Tuam
In addition, Roads will be upgraded into Grange Castle Business Park in West Dublin to provide access for a number of global industries.

I hope I am getting across what I am trying to say

I do not see any mention of EU Funding for the N69 or N28 schemes in the Capital Investment Plan or press releases yesterday. If there is to be any EU funding for the TEN-T schemes then this will only be part funding (i.e. 10% -20%) with government paying the rest.

Ah right I get you now. It's a bit disingenuous to say that the Adare bypass is going to be a separate scheme alright.

Why are people surprised by what the government are publishing.

The capital plan announcement is for the sheep who actually think there is 27 billion or whatever being invested.

They kept the Adare Bypass as a separate project to make the list look bigger.

    Not that clever.
