I saw a guy at the beach today about the same size as me surfing a 5”8 or 6 foot soft top. It looked like a lot of fun and I was wondering would it be worth getting a cheap one to have some fun on.
    Thanks

Bump for this, I am beginner to intermediate. I have a 9ft foam board and looking to progress. Would a foamie like this be good?
Or should I jump to a fiberglass board?

Have been seen quite a few soft tops / foamies on the east so don’t see why not

And have been tempted to try these

Link doesn't work for me buddy. I just seen some relatively cheap boards on done deal. But just not fully sure if I should jump up to fibreglass yet.
I guess the fibreglass isn't as forgiving as foam when it smacks your head though, which is still too often haha

If you are getting hit on the head you're developing bad habits of not protecting your head which when you do move to fibre glass you'll still have. When you fall cover your head, try to keep your board under control when it's wind...
