I doubt we will see any of the lesser rank teams dine with the big boys any time soon. You’ll see moral victories of some sort but never a consistent level of challenging. Carlow are in for a rough ride in Leinster come summer time

The Carlow draw against Galway last month was a freak tbh and god help them when they play in Leinster

If we could combine laois and Carlow they'd be very competitive in the leinster championship.

With the weather warning for tonight and into tomorrow, is there a chance that some of these matches will be cancelled against?

If at all possible, they'll try to make sure everyone is already sitting in the stadium after giving up their whole day to be there before making any decisions on that front.

Laois still need lots of improving and more underage development before they can dine at the top table.

Laois are concentrating on the football this year. They'll dethrone the Dubs in Leinster.

Kerry GAA is in a very healthy position.

Footballers very strong at Minor and coming good at senior again (may not win All Ireland this year but in next 3 years for sure). Have won all their games in Division 1 so far.

The hurlers are making great strides for a team that picks from 8 small hurling villages in North Kerry.
Division 2 final today v Westmeath and winners plays division 1 hurling in 2020.

Lack of hurling clubs will always hold Kerry back but when you see how other so called ‘football counties’ like Louth, Longford, Fermanagh etc (with absolutely no chance of ever winning much in football) treat the game of hurling with such disrespect, Kerry are a credit to themselves.

Nobody from Laois or Carlow should want to support that abomination though.

Absolutely true, but the hammering will continue.

Didn't Dublin use to get hammerings in hurling? Did they combine with other counties or what happened there? They don't seem to be getting hammerings anymore anyway.

No they invested in their underage structure and got very competitive in schools and underage hurling. Dublin won leinster minor titles in 05-07-11-12-16-18 and were beaten finalists in 04-10-14-15-17.

In that time frame of 15 years Laois and Carlow have only appeared once as beaten finalists in 06 Carlow were beaten by 26 points in the final and Laois beaten by 13 in 2013.

Obviously the underage setup there isn't working, and both have a lot of work to do if they want to dine at the top table. Offaly the same, their fans are deluding themselves if they expect them to be be able to compete with the galways and kilkennys despite neglect of underage hurling in the county.

Ah!!! That's what happened! How much did they invest? Do you think that would be a better option for Offaly, Carlow and Laois instead of combining?

Do the 2A and 2B winners go straight up or do they have a playoff for fear of a bigger team going down?

Straight up, so Westmeath replace Offaly, and Wicklow likewise with Mayo.

I never thought I'd see us playing Offaly in the NHL.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Straight promotion and relegation. Carlow came back from something like 8/9 points to beat Offaly so latter are relegated. Wind must have been huge factor in all the midlands games judging by the turnaround.

Good news for us Dubs is we win 1B.

Fkn bad news is we play Tipp next week in Thurles!

Noooooo. must be the worst ground and opposition for us anywhere, ever.

Wicklow get a national title...not often that happens. Fair play to them

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,759 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Wexford v Galway (Galway venue)
Calre v Waterford (Toss for venue)
    Tipperary v Dublin (Tipperary venue)

    Semi-final line up

    Limerick v Tipp/Dublin
    Wexford/Galway v Clare/ Waterford

Great going. Would never have thought they'd have got near Derry or Kildare in that division, let alone beat both to win it. 2A will be some eye opener but will just enjoy this for now.

Mayo beat London today so mayo survive and London are relegated.

Are the semi finals at neutral venues of is it the first team draw out for the pairings that gets home venue?

I propose Parnell as a neutral venue ;)

    Date yet?

Would it be a fortnight today?

Or else the day before on the Saturday under lights, I'd guess.

All the rest of the QFs will be Sat 16th I'd say. Ireland play Wales in the rugby at 14.45 that day which could affect attendances. I hope too god they don't decide the 'coin toss' for double headers if possible as Clare have a home NFL game. Waterford too Clare a horrible journey

Seems a bit unfair that Waterford top Galway in the table and yet it's a toss for venue, Galway get home advantage vs Wexford which is a hell of a lot easier than possibly going to Clare and trying to win.

It’s decided by who has already had three home games
