Ice cream van keeps coming into our private apartment complex blaring the ice cream van tune on a regular basis. Annoying for residents paticurally those with kids. How can we stop him entering as have asked him to stop before but keeps coming onsite when the entrance gates are open... Phoned council but they can't do anything as its on private property?

Next time he comes in when the gates are open, close the gates and leave him in there a while

Not really anything you can do. The management company could give him an official letter explicitly calling out that he is not permitted on the property for the purposes of carrying on a commercial activity.

But if he keeps doing it, all that can be done then is to take a case for civil trespass.

And ultimately it'll be a very expensive and long winded way of dealing with a minor nuisance.

He awaits until the gates open via a passing/entering vehicle as they are on a fob system... Actually two of them do this so its becoming a chore to stop them at this stage...

Management company would need to make contact to instruct them to stop

Stop buying ice cream from him!

Lobby the council to provide a safe place for him to stop on the public road.

Find out where lives and drive an icecream van around to his house and see how he likes it.

How do you know it's annoying for residents, particularly those with kids? Or just you, and because you have kids you're getting squeezed for 99's?

If there are that many of you, start a petition, write a strongly worded letter, contact the association of ice cream vendors, hold a protest, have a meeting in the community centre. Maybe even get the local PP to mention it at mass. So many ways to use your body in a busy way.

I'm calling BS on this anyway!

Not one, but two ice cream vans wait outside for someone to open the gates with a fob to get in. How do they get back out? Why doesn't the person who opened the gate stop them? How do you know other residents don't want them in?

Yup we call its 'Ice Cream Wars' when they accidentally arrive onsite the same time... When leaving they just await until another vehicle ends up opening the gate for them or blares the Ice Cream Van music until a resident opens the gates ... Residents who open the gate cant get out of their car and stop him... Some residents may want them in but most don't and we think its trading on private property without a licence! Phoned up Dublin City Council and they stated its not their problem as its on private property!...

Older gates of that type usually open when driven towards. Not as common now as it adds another layer of difficulty to car theft etc, but plenty of places still have them.

OP just confirmed the park in front of the gate and play music until someone opens the gate for them to leave...

As said, he may not be selling ice-cream.

AN ICE-CREAM van driver who sold cocaine as well as ice-lollies to customers, has been jailed for four years with the final two years suspended.
