Me Freeze was crap. Not sure why they expected children to be able to crush ice with some plastic and their hands.

It would be great if it tasted the same!

Great thread guys. I can recall Christmasses in the mid to late 80s. Is it fair to say while still commercialised to a degree it was a far simpler affair?

It is probably because Ireland was still a state influenced heavily by the church. While I'm no Church goer myself today I long for that less commercialised time and a breakaway from this Christmas Inc shíte that it's morphed into.

Another thing noticeable is that fewer hit Christmas songs released in modern day.

I always had a bit of a soft spot for the stockings rather than the selection boxes.

Oh it's great to see those old type of lights coming back.  I got LEDs for my mothers tree last year and they are lovely, but luckily it's in her porch.  I find them a bit too bright for a sitting room where you would be looking at it all night.  I have clear lights on my tree, but I would love to do something retro too, but I think I need another tree.  I don't think coloured lights would work with my current tree decs.
