On Thursday, my children's Cub Scout troop were told that they wouldn't be marching in the Limerick Parade as it was going to be 2c and torrential rain. Conditions too harsh for children.

I understand that it's mild and sunny at 9.30am. I know weather can change in a few hours... but looking like decent St. Patrick's Day weather so far.

I'm in Dublin and it's glorious.

Who on earth provided the stakeholders with that weather forecast?

Nice bright day here near Tralee and still good sunshine this evening.

Got up to 10.5C and currently 9.7C but you wouldn't know it in the fresh NW wind all day making it feel quite cold.

Snow capped mountains today, some big squally showers this morning with hail in them but dry for most of the day.

This might not be the place to put this but.... I have a question about sun temperature v shade temperature.

I know putting the thermometer in the sun produces a false reading, but can it be at least used to compare two readings?

Like if its 20c in the sun one day, and 30c the following day, does this mean its 50% hotter on the following day?

Or do the figures mean nothing at all?

    Thanks.
