Greatest Irish cricketer ever. Had the pleasure of meeting him in Harare during the recent WC qualifier. Couldn't meet a nice fella.

Delighted he got the chance to play test cricket, if ever there was a player deserving of the chance it was him. Great to see him retained within the Irish cricketing set up also.

    Enjoy retirement Ed!

Debatable; but he's certainly up there among the very very best that we've ever produced.

I'm happy for him that he'll finally be able to rest those long-running "dodgy hips" of his!

Fantastic player, class player, he inspired lots of youngsters to play, and scored an ODI ton in Australia for England. Great to go out on a high, pity he isn't 5 years younger.

Class player, always looked a proper batsman. Am very proud to have seen Ed play many times and would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment to all teams he played in.

As a true gentleman, I’m delighted he was capped for his country at Test Level. And looking forward to his contribution at coaching level. Will never be forgotten. (Not a bad bunch of siblings too.)

Delighted he got that chance to play Test Cricket. I kinda had the feeling that he was manoeuvring to playing that one test match after leaving Sussex.

Heard him doing a bit of commentary for Sky during the Blast last year and seemed quite comfortable. There is a career there for him now no doubt.

Shame he didn't hang on or a bit longer and a couple more tests, a great servant for Irish cricket and a man we fans owe a lot. All the best with the future Ed Joyce.

Second highest average of any opener in the county championship over the last three years.

Enjoy the retirement Ed, thoroughly deserved.
