It went north about 30km then flew in circles twice I think.
Then east about 60km out to sea and back to the airport.

Looks like they may have borrowed EI111 from Shannon again to cover. Cancelled today.

No - that's because EI-LBS is still in JFK where it was due to operate EI110 to Shannon last night (which was cancelled).

Antonov AN-124 approaching the Wexford coast.

Passed over me in north west London on its way, really unique sound and very slow moving.

EI3727 from Manchester to Cork has diverted to Shannon along with a few others.

Crap misty conditions in Cork I reckon. Is there anything that can be done about it, now thats the question.

Go-arounds are a perfectly normal procedure and do happen more regularly than you think.

    Nothing to worry about.

The holding would have been to allow air traffic control get you another landing slot.

Ah cool cheers never had one before especially when the wheels had touched or were about to touch down. Not the best flyer anyways so had us all written off.

Really? Aer Lingus has not had a fatal accident since 1968 and Ryanair has never had one in 34 years of operations. Flying as an airline passenger in Europe has never been as safe as it is nowadays.

What's FlyDubai B737 doing taking off out of Shannon just now?

    Not sure.

The same one took off from SNN about an hour or two ago aswell and looped back there again after 15 mins or so. And it looks like it's doing the same now again.

I think storm disruption is the root cause. It's on its way back to Dublin now, as is a flight from Newcastle

Most likely reason is the total chaos in the skies above the SE of England this evening. A 'Tropical Storm' over Kent, slow moving. Heathrow closed both runways for about an hour. Any BA flight departing LHR and routing over Europe have slots between 3am and 4am this morning. Any other routes are delayed due to aircraft unable to arrive and the one that did no gates available. They are trying to improve slots. Loads of very unhappy travellers at LHR.

Late delayed flights also coming in from Stansted and Gatwick

    I was on the FR143 1900 LGW-DUB last night.

inbound arrived 30 mins late and we sat in the lounge for 40 mins before boarding, airport was on stop due thunderstorms in SE UK .

Finally got going as one of the lucky ones at 2030 and wheels up was around 2100 once the storms had gone past. Others were far less lucky

Well done Ryanair on operating the darn thing tho we were one of the few to get away at all by the look of it
