Cork 5 up at HT. Hopefully can hold on from here

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,385 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Too many passes and play going nowhere.

Gone from 5 points up and now 2 points down.

Good point there to reduce it to 1

Disappointing to conceed two quick goals but have kept at it, not allowing Tyrone pull away

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,385 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Really lacked belief there to go on and win it. Kept on going down cul de sacs and going nowhere in possession when we were leading late in the first half. A few more scores would have left them with a mountain to climb.

At least it shows we are heading in the right direction though

Fook it anyway. That bad start to the second half killed them.

Disappointing not to qualify but we have to keep in mind the level we are coming from. Both of last years finalists first up was always a big ask. Hopefully they get a good crowd v Roscommon, they have restored pride in the jersey

Had you said we lose to Tyrone in Croker by 3 points and give Dublin good game for 60 minutes and be disappointed in May you be thinking you were mental.

Seemed be a bright light coming back to the footballers and if can win next week it be a much improved summer. Building on it is the Key though

Disappointing but Cork football is going in the right direction. At least they are playing competitively now and thats a start.

We gave it a good go.It wasn't the easy game for Tyrone, that people thought it would be.Cork football is back on track again. Now let's beat Roscommon to bring the curtain down on an encouraging year for Cork football. But in this championship we have beaten Limerick and Laois easy enough, and we have been very competitive against Kerry Dublin and Tyrone. So we have something to build on now going forward.

Lads did us proud - has been a hard slog this year with demotion to Division 3 after a woeful campaign last year. We were competitive with Dublin until the last 8 minutes and with a bit more experience and cuteness we could have beaten Tyrone this weekend - really hope this bunch of lads stay together and realise that they are not far off from being competitive with any team - 3 or 4 players from this years under 20s joining the panel would also increase our strength from the bench which was lacking in both Super 8 games

Really looking forward to 2020 with this Cork team and well done to Ronan and the management team for restoring pride in the Cork Football jersey!

Tipp with a 2nd goal just before HT, 2-7 to 1-10

Any chance Tommy O' Connell is related to Mickey O Connell?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,385 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Interesting first half. Some of the Cork players haven't got into the game at all.Tipp work very well as a unit but Cork are just delaying the pass and taking too much out of it every time.

We just need to pass it off a bit more and get Turnbull more into the game.

Second Tipp goal showed all that is wrong with Cork hurlers. Far too soft. Forward should never have been left in on goal.

Yes both goals given away were very poor defensively

Forwards winning little ball the last 10 min or so but we are level with 8 to go

Sheehan goal, Cork 2-16 Tipp 2-14, just beginning 4 min injury time

Jake Morris goal wins it for Tipp. Think we'll meet again in the AI final

Awful way to lose a game. Fine game of hurling - shouting at a tablet on a French campsite, locals looking bemused at me :pac:

Absolute sickener but didn't play well in the second half. Losing O Regan was huge. Some nice performances though, once again Sean Twomey has to be brought forward for the seniors. Natural fielder of ball and a sweet strike too. Keating at full back was great.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,385 ✭✭✭The White Feather

How did we lose that? Should have pulled everyone back. There seemed to be no one in defence when the ball broke for the goal.

Almost the same as the seniors, no one could win possession in the forward line and the defence parts like the red sea!!

Turnbull never got into the game much. We look to have better players but Tipp worked a lot harder. We upped the work rate in the second half at least. Losing O'Regan was crucial too.I think we may meet again in the final anyway.

Robert Downey certainly didn't look anywhere near a senior hurler tonight. A bit like Tim O Mahony a while ago they need to decide is he a defender or a full forward. I'd argue there's better men on that pitch tonight that play either position better. Maybe once he fills out he'll turn into a good player but I dunno, he seems to lack the bite. Lads like Keating, Mellerick and O Leary Hayes have a far better attitude.

Turnbull is a lovely hurler once the ball is in his paw and although some aspects are very similar to Cadogan he's miles away from him at the moment. Still very raw and really needed to be involved more once O Regan went off.

Frustrating one but there's a fine bunch of lads there.

I wouldn't mind seeing these two teams play each other again, that was a great advertisement for hurling. Credit to both teams tonight.

Those players need to remember that hurt tonight. Cork has lost its steel in hurling. We have lost that toughness. Some lovely hurlers but we lack so much in Physical battles and cant seem to out away teams in any grade it's a worry we need to address quickly.

Hurling is there, that is in no doubt, but we gone too soft at times.

Losing becomes a habit. That's Cork hurling right now. We cant win any tight games at any level now. Dissapointing and worrying going forward.
