Track has no grip in the dry, and literally nothing in the wet! Could be interesting later. Any ideas on weather for tomorrow?

the standing water is pretty dangerous so if it stays like this ........Qual could be put off , that means FP2 time stand right ?

No if they can't run qualy today, then they can run it tomorrow morning. And if that's not possible then they use FP3 times.

Damn, missed FP3, sounds like it was fun. Delighted the rubber has been washed away now. Qualy and the race should be very interesting.

I would say the Turkish track owners were looking at the other races and how boring most of them were and thinking we need to do something to have on exciting race on our track and maybe race of the season. I know let's resurface it that should make it exciting lol.

Yeah seriously. The bizarre races have stood out. Tyre madness at Silverstone jumps to mind. Maybe a slippy track will make a great race.

Maybe what we really need is less competence in F1. Start appointing people’s sons to replace them in important roles instead of interviewing and getting the best person for the job.

Oh my god it’s rained to help bring out great oils from the new surface. This is shaping up to be a classic!

Obviously that's a pisstake but it would be way more fun. :pac:

I see they still have a problem with stray dogs on track

    Looking forward to this

Verstappen and Leclerc dealed best so far in those conditions.
But yeah wet track at least for the start of qualifying, even if dried up slippy track. Be prepared for surprises

There's no grip at all, they can barely touch the loud pedal at all

This is great. Brand new surface plus the rain is making for chaos.

Rain in 5 - going to see some red flags, I'd say

    Red flag

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,612 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

And that's that for a while at least

If they were losing so much time in a single corner they'd be saying it was too dangerous. Funny how they can continue when they want to :pac:

    Red flag

    Ugh.

Wow, going to be hard to restart the session unless it stops raining soon? And they need to complete the session in 2 hours, don't they?

should stop raining soon according to the sky commentary. Could be a really interesting weekend here!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,354 ✭✭✭BrentMused

I’m really enjoying it but the red flag there was the correct call, IMO.

Those conditions were verging on lethal.

Fingers crossed it will clear a bit and we can get on with the session as there is great potential for upsets.

None of the driver have died or at a high risk of dying, there shouldn't be a red flag.

If there's not a car stopped in a dangerous place the show should go on.
