Group 2 in the Christy ring basically decided and its 1st/2nd playoff the next day out between Meath and Roscommon

Mad considering 3rd and 4th in that group were the finalists from last year.

I see the last Derry home game in the Christy Ring has changed from Celtic Park to Owenbeg on gaa.ie. Is that this one?

As a matter of interest does anybody know when Westmeath last beat Offaly in the senior hurling championship? I'm thinking mid 1950s, though something at the back of my mind tells me there may have been a shock result in the late 60s or the 70s.

Westmeath and Offaly have met 24 times in the championship, it might come as a surprise to some that they are historically speaking closer matched than many might think.

Westmeath's victory at the weekend was the 10th time they have beaten Offaly in the championship, no draws between them so Offaly won the remaining 14 encounters.

Similar story in the league, 23 meetings; Offaly with 14 wins to Westmeath's 9.

Obviously didn't know those numbers off the top of my head. There's a website called hurlingfacts.com where you can view the head to head records of all teams.

Kevin Martin gone in Offaly and Joachim Kelly managing them for the rest of the championship.

Kerry putting it up to Westmeath at the moment. Could really open things up for the rest of the group stage.

    Mighty win

Just watching Buff Egan's snaps on it there. Very good quality, some great scores. Great win for Kerry, fair play to them.

So if Kerry and up winning the Joe Mcdonagh they wont get automatically promoted too the Liam McCarthy for 2020 they would play the 5th placed Munster team for that place and there would be no team relegated from Leinster

Huge win that for Kerry, blows open the Joe McDonagh, Laois have a great shot now.

Yep. It's a load of bollocks and watching backs.

Was watching back last nights Sunday Game this morning

They show highlights of Laois and Westmeath in the football but not one bit of coverage of the two counties then when it comes to hurling

TG4 gave highlights of Kerry v. Westmeath in Joe McDonagh.

Saw him playing in the Fitzgibbon cup for UCC this year. Definitely one of the most skillful stickmen I have ever came across.

Some very classy hurlers come from that hotbed of hurling in North Kerry.

More's the pity that thanks mainly to Galway the interprovincials are gone. I'm sure the likes of Shane Conway would love to have a medal.

Big game for Offaly today after all that has went on

Offaly 1-6 Antrim 1-4 after 28min. Antrim down to 14 since the 10th minute

Mad game - Antrim winning 3-23 to 4-16 in injury-time.

    Some game that.

And they prevail by 3-23 to 4-18: Offaly must beat Kerry to escape the Christy Ring on the H2H rule, unless Westmeath lose to both Laois and Antrim.

Depending on how results go next week that game might not even matter. A draw next week for Kerry against Laois will relegate Offaly.

Offaly conceding massive scores. Better than the last few weeks today but not good enough.

The first 20 years of my life, there were only 4 Leinster finals Offaly didn't contest. Minor AI in 89. The magic of 94, going close in 95 and then winning again in 98.

I never imagined we'd fall so far. Lost for words.
