5G and Naked Body Airport Scanners

    I have been looking at the frequency allocations for 5G. The 26GHz band is the same used in TSA naked body scanners. While data will only function over short distances, it should be possible to use the backscatter to take naked images of people using portable software defined radios and some software built on GNU radio.

    There are no software defined radios operating at frequencies that high. The illumination function would be completely unknown if passive, and low power if using anything remotely covert. It'd be like trying to take a photograph using a 1990s CMOS sensor through shower glass of a person illuminated by a comms laser located in a disused lavatory in an adjacent building.

    There are a few SDRs at the minute and certainly the chips are available. The general idea is to use the phase differences in multipath reflections in different voxels to infer the depth. The leading or trailing edge of a packet should serve as a reference. Its basically the same thing as a TSA naked body scanner, but if we narrow the bandwidth a little and cool the receiver, it should work.

    How hard would it be to land those scanners with a bunch of interference?
