    Leopardstown races are available now.

Hennessy Gold Cup the obvious highlight but 3 other top drawer Grade 1s to bet on.

Competition for tomorrow is live now and I've got the whole Ascot card, 3 from Gowran, 2 from Wincanton and most of the Haydock card.

I've got Trustan Times antepost for the Grand National Trial so I'll be hoping he goes well. I'm going to Ascot tomorrow for a romantic day with horse racing, my girlfriend is gonna come too :pac:

That doesn't look right. I'll look into that for you Shane.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I see the problem Shane, I'll get it fixed as soon as possible. Same for anyone else who had Lie Forrit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

Done that now Shane. Lie Forrit each-way returned 5.49pts. Well done on the selection. He's always been a favourite of mine.

You did it e/w that's why

  • Registered Users Posts: 69 ✭✭Daliapour

I picked everything on the nose the weekend and besides even if i did it e/w at best case scenario 1/4 the odds it would return 7.50 and not 8.70

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

That selection was an ew. Ew are half a point on each of the win and place price on Betfair less 5% which gives you 8.70pts

    http://form.timeform.betfair.com/raceresult?raceId=1.22.1150214.2

    (((15−1)÷2)×0.95)+(((5.31−1)÷2)×0.95) = 8.69725

    Hope that helps

Another comp for tomorrow guys. Taking in the Bobbyjo, Eider, Betbright Chases.
Plenty of Grand National clues from these races.

Sire De Grugy goes to Chepstow to find some semblence of hope to take with him to Cheltenham next month.

Good racing from Kempton with three Grade 2s in the form of the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle, the Pendil Novices´ Chase and the Dovecote Novices´ Hurdle.

Something to keep us ticking over til Cheltenham!

    Hey Shane,

I'm not totally convinced by the way we calculate each way at the moment. It's complicated and confusing to everyone. The profit you got is correct though it's a little crap and doesn't encourage eachway betting at all.

Basically our each way is a win and a place on betfair prices, that's always how I've done it.

    For Shaneshill =>

    Win price: 10.96
    Place price: 3.01

Your bet is 0.5pts on win and 0.5 points on place.

you lose the win part so your already -0.5pts.

    For place, 3.01 - 1 brings it down to fractions, i.e. 2.01/1

2.01 * 0.95 = 1.9095 gives you the price less standard 5% commission taken by betfair.

Now your stake was 0.5pts so we half that and get 0.95475

And take away your losing 0.5pts win stake and you get a rounded return of 0.45pts

    I hope this makes sense.

    Doesn't make sense to me

Horse is 9/1, quarter of that is 2.25

    2.25 x 0.5 = 1.125 (that's your winnings)

you lose 0.5 from the win bet and get 0.5 back from the place bet so it's still 1.125
