Hats off to MT he flagged this 130k storm last week, well done and thanks to all who keep us so well informed and up to date here with the nasty weather as it comes..

Maybe we should update the title from when its valid from. Its for Friday only on level 2 it seems

With weather systems they could strike early or late they don't run to a timetable.

So why do MET issue a time frame ?

No word from Maquiladora at all?

He usually has both useful and interesting insights on these systems. (Along with others of course.)

Severe storm out to sea no doubt , some of the Scottish Islands will get some battering. Big gusts overland overnight but clearing away quickly tomorrow morning. Some big readings in coastal stations, possibly some of the highest wind readings this winter ?

Strange, wind direction for Dublin Airport looks interesting and would expect gusts to 55/60kt for a brief period in the morning.

assume this will cause problems at dublin airport in the morning?

Will be interesting to see the 18z runs to see if the storm intensifies as it deepens or if the track is a bit more south. Must be quite close to a Red warning for a few W / NW counties.

Not by the current TAF as I have said already. Gusts of only 46kt forecast from 230 degrees so shouldn't cause problems.

    2154 update

Extremely windy tonight as southwest winds increase strong to gale force, with some severe or damaging gusts, especially across coastal counties. Overcast with scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle at first, but more persistent rain will spread from the west before dawn, with the heaviest of the rain affecting Atlantic counties. Lowest temperatures 5 to 9 degrees Celsius.

    Tomorrow

A very windy start to Friday with further damaging gusts for a time - overnight rain clearing eastwards early in the morning. A clearance will quickly develop - brightening up even as of early morning in some parts, with bright winter sunshine and scattered blustery showers following for the rest of the day. Whilst the winds will ease a little, staying rather windy for the day, with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds. Turning colder through the day, with some hail showers occurring in the north and west later. Highest afternoon temperatures 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, best values for southeastern counties.

10 pm reports....kinsale gusting 46 knots, very windy right across the country with most stations gusting 30 knots or above.
