Heres an interesting list from Niamh Smith on twitter for Irish festival tweets

    http://twitter.com/niamhsmith/festivals-events

For those not on twitter, the above is a feature of twitter that you can set up a list and then it can be shared (followed) by others. So Niamh appears to have set this one up to follow Irish Festival tweets.

You might want to follow this list yourself if on twitter or it is a handy list to bookmark if you are looking for something to do / somewhere to go and shoot your camera for a couple of hours.

Just spotted this over in the Meath section. I've never heard of it before but sounds like the kind of thing one should bring a camera to - apart from the bloody sand!

Not looking for anyone for myself, but I remember someone in a thread last year mentioning how the Photography forum would appreciate a heads up - so the Wicklow 100/200 cycle is taking place this coming Sunday (13th June). Usually there are a few photography heads at the top of Slieve Man/Shay Elliot.

    Map and whatnot here: http://www.wicklow200.ie/

Hah! Now I see it and there I was wondering why no one mentioned it :)

Anyhow, to bring back to the present, as mentioned here, Georgia Fiorio's "The Gift" now showing in the Gallery of Photography, Temple bar. Some nice work in there and worth a stop by.

Wasn't much taken with the photo montage stuff in the National Photographic Archive across the street though.

Nicely done slideshow with Georgia Fiorio's work, on the top level of the Gallery of Photography. It was my secret escape from bad weather outside;)

I was volunteering in the archive four days. First impression like yours - not my style/likeing. But after looking at those on the ground floor (Sean Hillen) and talking to him, it grew on me. Even though it's nothing I would ever do myself (I suppose), I like his ideas and how he realised them.

    Hi there,

Just letting everyone know about an event my club is hosting on the 18th of September that some might find a good opportunity for taking some sports photography.

We will be running three routes from Tralee out and around the Dingle Peninsula. These include a 30km route suitable for families and those new to the sport of cycling, a 110km route (the Conor Pass Challenge) for more experienced riders and a 150km route (the Blasket Blast) over which there *should* be many opportunities to capture riders digging deep on the hills, delighting in the descents and speeding along the flats and all on a backdrop of some of Kerry's and indeed Ireland most scenic areas.

If people want to come to for the photography experience or with the aim of selling their photos afterwards we'd be more than happy to have you on the route.

Also in to off chance that there are photographers here that also happen to spend a bit of time on a bike - we're taking entries online till Sept 10th and full details are available at our website and on the cycling forum thread

    Galway International Rally this weekend.

Site isn't great for maps etc.
there's a programme that has all the details on sale.
i phoned up and they said cars will be in Oranmore Precast for repairs, servicing etc.
I'm planning to go there on Sat at about 7:15am, before they head out to Ballinsloe for the first leg. ( I can't go to anything else so this is my only chancce).
Hopefully I'll get some shots of them getting into their gear, car engines, etc.

Just came across this via photographers.ie and as often forum members raise the topic of working in or with the media, thought some people may be interested in it.

Its a seminar / networking type of event.

10 yoyos if you are NUJ or 20 yoyos if not.

    Programme published here

Skerries Mills in North County Dublin often have nice art exhibitions. At the moment there's a landscape photography exhibit by Skerries photographer Denise Cannon. They're having an auction night on Friday July 22nd & €50 from every photo auctioned on the night is being donated to Temple Street Childrens Hospital.

Had been meaning to visit Farmleigh for quite some time and had never gotten around to it.

I didn't realise they had a Gallery until I stumbled across that an exhibition of photography from the State Art Collection was on display there.

Paid a visit yesterday. It spreads over two rooms. Some nice stuff on display. Lots of large format c-print / lambda prints.

If lanscape/nature is your thing and in the area then its worth a half hour of your time.

Apart from that the grounds of Farmleigh are just gorgeous at this time of year. Bring your camera and spend an extra hour there :)
