Friends did a Norway trip (cant remeber the resort), they got caught out a bit with a few things. It was quite expensive and booze is huge money. Accommodation near the ski hill was quite isolated and not really much in the way of apres ski around. They didn't book lessons for the beginners in advance and then couldn't get any. The more advanced people skied the place out in a day or 2. Def worth tracking downsome first hand info.

Hi All. Just thought I would post some feedback on the trip to Norway. We ended up pulling the trigger and going to Trysil for New Years - 2 adults and 2 kids (6yrs and 9 yrs).

Flew out with SAS and back with Norwegian - both allowed me to transfer my skis as part of my checked baggage with no extra charge and no checking to see if the bag only contained skis. Flights were both at easy times.

Hired a car with Sixt and drove form Oslo to Trysil - approx. 2 hours easy driving.

Stayed at the Radison Blu in Trysil - very kid friendly hotel and right on the slopes.

Skiing was generally good but the lift system is mainly composed of slow chair lifts and T-bars which did detract from the skiing a bit.

Slopes and piste maintenance was very good but there was very little difference between some of the Red and Black runs. Also the mountain can close quite quickly due to wind - mainly do to the older chairlifts.

All in all a very accessible location from Dublin.

Happy to provide more info if needed.

    TTFN
