Precipitable water chart from the latest 'rapid ECMWF up around midnight or thereabouts. Gives a good idea of where fronts are placed:

Looks like the most 'intense' area will run up through the midwest and into the north midlands as the afternoon and evening wears on. Here in Galway, it neither feels or looks all that thundery to be honest.

Oddly, getting some distant rumbles now but still looks like a standard Irish day.

Really? Didn't know that. Makes sense when I think about it, we get all the good stuff as things don't really matter once you go outside the pale ;)

Just standard moderately heavy rain here. I've seen worse. Not even a flicker of a breeze which makes the increasing humidity levels feels worse. 15.0mm in the 'oul bucket so far.

Sudden clear blue sky down here in West cork, very strong gusts though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,235 ✭✭✭Oneiric 3

    very strong gusts though.

    Sounds lovely!

May indicate that there is a shallow low developing over the SW region.

Possibly! Bluest most cloudless sky I've seen in cork in weeks though!

Looks like Kilkenny is missing most of the rain again, must be one of the driest areas again this summer.

All I can say is that the Kilkenny climate station's rainfall total is running 100mm below average to date.
