Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Floor standing speakers ... on a budget.

    Interested in a pair of floor standing speakers for under €300.

    So I've been thinking about the Polk T50s and the Pioneer SP-FS52 speakers, both similar dimensions, similar characteristics, technically similar, both with good reviews, and both at a similar price....

    But where can I get to do a comparison listening test and hear them side by side? Is there a HiFi shop around that would stock them both I wonder?

    I will be running them off a Pro-Ject Debut III SE turntable (Ortofon (OM20 Super cartridge)/ Marantz CD player through a 1990s NAD 3020i amplifier (or) through my Philips FA930 amp.

    Anybody?

    Even the name of a HiFi shop where ai might enquire would be a start. I did phone HiFi Hut yesterday but their floor speakers start at €799 a pair :eek:

    Upstairs in Tower Records on Dawson Street. A bit expensive but worth a try anyway.
